I am now sure alpha will be filled with cameos from maybe srk and even salman to help with the box office, now that jigra has not performed well at the box office

Love and War has already been delayed. Maybe there's uncertainty about the script and whether it's the proper vehicle or not, but this is one film that I can see being scrapped, especially since it appears to be lacking an investor.

With Alpha, it really depends on if stars like SRK and Salman will bother to come back. How much goodwill is there towards Alia to cameo for her, particularly from Salman. Maybe they'll do it for Adi and Rani but we'll also have to consider if Adi is going to cash in a favor from his friends for this particular film. He may decide that this film is not worth investing in further, that there's no salvaging it at this point, so no need to throw more money at it to make something that will never be a hit into a hit.

If Tiger vs Pathaan couldn't become a thing with Salman and SRK's combined starpower, then I don't see any reason why potential appearances from them in Alpha could save it either. And I think the Indian public is far more astute than these filmmakers give them credit for. The era where a big star can have a cameo to make a film a hit is over. SRK appearing in Tiger 3 still wasn't enough for that film to meet expectations so why would either of those two in Alpha help? People will not go to watch Alpha for a five minute scene max for a big star. There are too many options now when it comes to entertainment.

Brahmastra is the best example. KJo was desperate and begged SRK, Big B, and Deepika all to appear. That didn't save the film at all. I am a fan of all three but I wasn't going to watch Brahmastra for them in limited roles.

Chhapaak = "a biographical drama film based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal" - so, of course "a comedy at its best" (Laxmi Agarwal certainly will agree...)

https://www.sacnilk.com/news/Chhapaak_Box_Office_Collection_Day_Wise_Worldwide

The "comedy" Chhapaak released in January 2020 and looking at the ticket prices then the footfalls had been a lot higher then now for Jigra.

Although this is not the Chhapaak thread, I will comment here since Deepika and her film's name keep getting brought up by the same people complaining that Deepika gets dragged into everything.

Chhapaak's legacy will be similar to Sridevi's Sadma. Another extremely niche film that did not fit the conventional mold for a heroine or BW film. The masses could not relate and kept away. Sadma was a box office flop. What's more interesting is that it was a remake of Moondram Pirai. Sadma had the exact same cast, director, and script as Moondram Pirai but Moondram Pirai was a huge hit and considered an instant classic in the South. It just goes to show how southern audiences are far more accepting of niche films and out of the box stories. What works there can become an instant disaster in Bollywood audiences' more rigid expectations. Sadma now has a much better reputation over the years and I expect the same will be true of Chhapaak, once it's less associated with KJo's PR acting against it plus the JNU controversy. Right now, the film is too tainted by these things but once time passes, it will be seen similarly as an art film showcasing a major issue that needs to be highlighted in India.

Not surprisingly, people who did watch Sadma and Chhapaak both had nothing but praise for the films and central performances. Both stars, at career peaks, took very taboo material and completely shed their star images to play these roles. For Sridevi, it was even a bigger risk because she was already a huge star in the South but this was in her early Bollywood days where she was not yet known and already being torn to shreds for her appearance and language. Very brave actresses taking on very brave roles with no hint of glamour or commercialism. Both actresses should be commended.

Alpha is a vehicle for Sharvari..who they want to groom for YRF. If they wanted a big budget film, they would taken a big director from their own franchise. They have taken an OTT director, who made his debut with Railway Men. He has never done action.Couldn't they pay a bigger director? No money for male cast? This looks like Heera Mandi to me.

About cameos,I don't think Superstars will agree to be directed by this newbie. They won't risk it. No other cast has been announced-so weird. How small is this film?

I'm not here to bash Alia but call out a fan of her. I would like that a fan of an actor/actress could be open enough to respect the work of the favourite's colleague (which doesn't mean one has to like it, just not demean it).

I'm sure that Alia portrayed what she was told by the director and his vision...but I'm also sure that Alia should go back (in her mind and behaviour) to a time where her Ego won't come into the way of the character to play...I think that latter made Ayan - deliberately - ridicule her...and I also think that Karan is a weak person putting up a front...he may cater to Alia's wishes....well, and Bhansali just want to put certain of his visions on screen and will compromise.

I wondered if SRK did some shooting for YRF with his hairstyle (before it got cut) as it had been his Pathaan look. We'll get to know, I guess...

I suppose that Jigra's fate at the boxoffice is clear, but I also think that the OTT viewing will be better...and personally, I really want to know if Divya's accusations have any substance...
