I have always felt it was Ani's ploy of announcing Anishi married, just so he is not forced to go down the aisle again !
On the aag night, when J says apki shaadi ho gayi, he goes sari rituals puri nehi hui hai, J says ho jayegi to which he says, jabb hogi tabb dekha jayega, now is not the time to talk about it !
The biggest issue with AK is his dual face is misleading, on one side he is driving Ani up the wall with his histrionics, on the other he is coming across just as a friend for J !
I do not like people who think they are oversmart or chuntt, he is at the end , harming J in the process, whether he realises it or not ! Specially coz he knows, J loves Ani !
Unless Adi considers himself to be a protector trying to save J from an undeserving suitor (Ani) !
Have to wait and watch, what actions Ani takes, after finding her behosh, given the public insult meted out to him , by J at the party and Adi lurking over the RuNak equation ! Things are getting a lil bit murky !

Was in rush so I couldnโt complete some of my thoughts but as usual your post helps sharpen my thought process on Aniโs core traits.
You have neatly laid out the issue with Aniโs sorryโฆ I called it old baggage but didnโt elaborate on why. He has couched his feelings of attachment to her in words of zimmedari for far too long so much so that he hasnโt been able to treat it as a matter of jealousy and therefore in the narrative it has hung in the air in different forms. For instance with Rahul, it took on a form of benevolence and his jealousy was โOh I know you love him - prove me wrong.. pretty please doโ When Jhanak didnโt clarify much it kept him in his happy space but he didnโt lose itโฆ. I always wondered what would happen if Jhanak had taken him up on it!!
With Avinash, it hung in the air of goading her to make something of her life and feeling disappointed with her when she didnโt rise to the baitโฆ Those words he used with Jhanak however werenโt ever that of a guy who was only looking it as responsibility; if it were soโฆ he would have used encouragement to dissuade her from marrying Avinash but his own feelings of attachment raged on his mind and all he could do then was goad her. Yet like in the case of Avinash he became reconciled to her wedding sadly even performing the rasams and who knows he might have done the same with Rahul wedding too ๐
He was jealous then too but somehow made peace with the situation coz somewhere he either thought this is what J wanted to or in other case, the situation for J at BH was untenable. In hindsight I think Ani froze up then too as he did during the fire aftermath and wonder if the suicide threat had any role to play. Sorry for rambling here.
Anyways coming back to this train of thought I like to delineate Aniโs feelings towards Avi or Rahul from those he has towards Adi ( like Tejas)with Adi his jealousy was very blatant first time around. He puts Adi and Tejas perhaps in the same category. I wonder what would his feelings be if Adi turned to be a good friend to Jhanak? Jealousy even with a nuance can get very overbearing in a relationship. But to get to a stage where this can be weeded out and it doesnโt belong in todayโs discussion becos they are nowhere close to being trusting of each other.
Aniโs juxtaposition with Adi in the current state serves one thing in the narrativeโฆ. I donโt know if the writers are going to explore that. If it turns out Adi is a good friend to Jhanak ( which he is seemingly so far..not too many missteps so far) will Ani be able to reconcile like in the past? Or has he traversed an irreversible path post Kashmir confession. The other thing is will it allow him to address his overprotectiveness and the blurring of lines or question his role in her life beyond zimmedari pyar lens?Big complaint with dialogues today..
