I always felt the pathos in this relationship will come to a head at some point. I canโt say I saw it unfold in this fashion.
I keep harping there is no other angle in this story.. no other chance for drama and even if they try any stunt it will only be by mutilating the core character and expecting people to be on board as the larger audience does not deeply reflect on characteristics.
I read posts where people are speculating about his jealousy etcโฆ yes jealousy is a feature but within that he is also shown as a person who was trying to get Jhanak and Rahul married at one stage, reconciled to a life without her. For that matter, his taunts to Jhanak when her wedding was being arranged to Avinash was about her not doing justice to her dreams. He did not stand in her way and in fact wanted to spare no expense for her wedding even when his heart was in turmoil. So I feel people should make that distinction.
His irrational fear for Jhanakโs safety ( not justifying it just stating it as a trait) has him flipping off the handle and getting worked up and the writers may use that to drum the characterisation further but the narrative has shown Ani in a nuanced light in this respect
.He feels uncomfortable about Adi as he used to about Tejas. His fear of one was justified.. his fear of Adi.. I donโt know how it will goโฆ maybe it will be unfounded.
However I donโt know how many of you notedโฆ his changed demeanour while referring to Adi.. Gone is the old anger, the loss of Haq on Jhanak is now something he is starkly aware of, his plea while warning her of Aditya.. Tumhare kehne main chinta chod nahin sakta. Despite everything my heart went out to him at that moment.
I hope the writers keep this core of Ani intact. Give me a nuanced portrayal any day and I will take it!!
I can get all his worries , he giving space to her ,valuing her opinion , her safety , her happiness..everything ..Till yesterday he asking for her defeat . Even that like you said and Sohini wrote we can think from his Pov.
But the issue is when things which most of the viewers take as negative is shown , the writers leave it open for us to assume. That is why Anirudh is always been on the bashing end. When we see a show for thirty minutes daily its for entertainment or relaxation ,who will sit and analyse things so deeply like we do.
So when they show some odd things they need to execute it well and give him strong dialogues or monologue which gives the viewers the feel that he is the lead of the show who is concerned about the heroine and not the one who makes her life hell.
That is why this Anirudh is being bashed all over the social media.
Initially when he was simple still people had issues with his intentions , when he rescued her in the Kashmir epiosde which is the story itself he was claimed as bad and we used to discuss a lot of his actions...so now when things are so negative I want the makers to make it clear and not make us assume things.
Now let them show him with a monologue of how Arshi told him if she loses it is end of her life or Shristi threatening him, something conventional so that viewers are convinced ....
Most of the time we need to assume things,may be that is the aim to keep the buzz .
But unfortunately in this game Anirudh character is being bashed and bashed to infinity and tarnished .
