If we step back totally and try to look at this big picture of this point regarding Jhanak holding back over her illegitimacy......she has two pathways.

a) You stay on the path you started and fight your way through to your goal

b) You change your path completely to not face the challenges you will see on path "a" and focus on building a different life instead.

Jhanak has never even considered path "a"....she changed to path "b" the first chance she got.....she gave up on path "a" before she even walked one step on it because she decided in advance that it will never work out for her. She has never even really given Ani the chance to fight that battle alongside her because she never even stepped up to the starting line.....lol

So now that she is already on path "b", she has to keep justifying it as the right choice na.....that is why she keeps repeating she can never walk the same path as Ani but she also keeps claiming they can move towards that same goal....what is that goal though? Is she ever going to articulate that or just pretend there is some goal in her mind?

I don't think it's about illegitimacy....she is triggered by Bose family considering her inferior to them...even though she taunts them back a bit, she again goes mute when they bully her....she isn't really able to own her successes....everything is just bravado with her...she doesn't want to believe in her own capabilities ever and has a long list of excuses ready to quit and run every time

She recognized his attraction to her early on and time again she asked him about it. His response was either insaniyat or zimmedari. Every time he took a step towards her eg valentine day, he tore the pic saying it is not important to him. Family always reinforced that Ani has never refused to marry Arshi. Even after the Kashmir kaand, he said my heart is divided in two. When they returned to BH he was silent on questions why she is back. She took his silence as that she will have to reject the 50-50 deal and responded with she is there for the wedding and will leave. By actions and words Ani and fam showed that he will go back to Arshi. Even after tumor recovery she says the same. Now when he is coming to terms with his feelings she is still in that phase that she will be left alone.

Hence I will be there for him if he is hurt but not live with him and Arshi (as a package deal)!!! Ani has to wake up from his slumber and send Arshi away, now that he knows clearly that J cares for him and he loves her. If for the sake of the signed papers or anything else he stays with Arshi, J will be right in assuming again that Arshi is the jeevan sathi and she is the near-death sathi.
