Humayun Saeed, Sania Saeed, and Ayesha Khan are three of the biggest names of our drama industry, and when they come together it is bound to make people take notice.
Lamha Lamha Zindagi that started airing in the first half of 2010 on ARY digital has gone through many ups and downs, and this reviewer is going to review the show with a hawk's eye.
Lamha Lamha Zindagi is the story of two sisters Tazeen(Sania Saeed), and Sabeen(Ayesha Khan) adopted by their uncle Murtaza(Sheryar Zaidi), and aunt(Naila Jafri) against their children wish Aashi(Natasha Ali), Shafaq & Shahmir(Danish Taimoor).
Story:- The story shows the difficulties these sisters have to go through. Sabeen falls in love with Shahmir who is a flirt and divorces her right after the nikah –after going abroad, and Tazeen who is engaged to Saad(Humayun Saeed) has to face difficulties when Sabeen is absent mysteriously, and everyone thinks she has ran away with someone.
Yes , a very thin – oh I know what's going to happen next – kind of story. We agree. The story does not offer anythng new at all. We actually wonder where the story is.
The drama starts on a good note and focuses on the relationship between the two sisters played by Sania Saeed, and Ayesha Khan. The first few episodes show the bonding, relationship, and the love. The first major twists arrive when Damish Tamoor leaves for abroad after marrying Ayesha Khan-ultimately divorcing her. But, was that unexpected? NO !
There's a parallel track of Hassan Niazi's family that is very poor, and it focuses on the problem faced by poor,unemployed men. But, haven't we seen it already in a zillion dramas? Yes, we have. Does it offer anything new? No! It does not.
The story moves with Hassan's mother, and wife dying and he is left alone ultimately falling in love with the widow(Ayesha Khan) who mysteriously disappears with him.(we won't open the secret)
The drama then extends-extends, and extends. A total of four(+) episodes(YES!) are wasted with little to no movement in the story. Ayesha Khan's character is missing for a long time and her sister Tazeen has to face problems because of her. The drama ultimately ends positively with the evil getting punished. Oh..how intelligent. NO!
Technicalties:- Well, the story is the culprit here. There is no story at all to be honest. I have no idea what such biggies saw in the project to give it a nod. The drama for the majority of time goes no where with nothing happening at all. The relationship shared by the sisters is beautiful, and one can connect to it.
The direction is one thing that is superb. The director extracts some great eprformances not just out of the principal starcast, but also the minor actors. Dialogues are okay. The camera work is good. Editing should've been better.
Acting:- The real power lies in the actors. When we have such biggies then It automatically attracts eyeballs, and this is exactly why the show faired well in the initial episodes but then the lack of response caused the channels to shift the show to another day.
Sania Saeed takes to her role like a fish takes to water. She Is exceptional like always. But, at times she looks too old for her role.Humayun Saeed doesn't get a chance to show his great acting skills. The drama is totally dominated by Sania Saeed(looks like it was written for her). Humayun is sidelined mostly and is used as a prop. Ayesha Khan looks beautiful, and acts sincerely. Her dialogue delivery is beautiful.
Naila Jafri is phenomenal in her role that has many shades to it. Greta casting here. She suits the role to perfection. Danish Taimoor himself doesn't know what he is doing there. He is merely for few episodes as a filler. Sheryar Zaidi is herself. Natasha is good, and leaves an impression. Hassan Niazi fails to leave any mark, and the girl playing his wife wears the same expression throughout. Aneesa looks beautiful and plays her part believabley.
Overall :- The show offers nothing, and is too long to give it a try. This proves that you don't just need big names to make something watchable-but the content itself has to be really strong too. I hope our makers realize that soon.
Watch it only if you have nothing better to do, or you're a fan of the actors.
