a tight brief, which doesn't give you everything you want often produces the best of things. it creates necessity... the thing that stokes the thinking, the imagination and gives birth to something new, beautiful. a thing born to serve a purpose but sometimes far exceeding its need it becomes a want... a desire... like this enchanting set piece in the middle of the everyday, the ordinary, in an episode of a serial.

had barun not gone away for a bit. had there not been panic about how to keep the show going with the hero not around. had there not been a need to keep the love story alive. had there been no hair tearing about the famous chemistry gone missing. had there not been heads wondering if they'd roll in case trp went down.

but there had been all of that. and show had to go on. writers had to create "tracks" that worked. their only key, the female lead... asr had already acknowledged to himself his feelings for khushi, but writers had still not worked out khushi's realisattion. i've heard ved raj mention this and how challenging it was to find the right moment and method for this.

the hero is not there. he cannot be interacted with in the "real" world. perhaps that was the gate through which they neatly stepped into another space, a bit of surreality, the sphere of imagination. kidnap is drizzled with dreams, reveries, telepathy, spaces where the imagination goes and claims real estate... beyond the restrictions and barriers of the three dimensions. in a thought world, sometimes far more potent than the "things" world.

two episodes back khushi had dreamed of him and had a lover's premonition. she ran frantically in search of the man she loved, becoming his woman while he was far away. maybe he heard her? maybe he called her?

today something inanimate yet always a part of her emotions, a sign of her in fact, a little orange swirl, crunchy outside, soft and sweet inside, her jalebi, it took her straight to him and her longing, her memory, her first declaration of love... she made it to herself. because it was she who needed to know it maybe, before she could tell anyone else.

and perhaps the most lovely and enduring and insightful soliloquy i have ever heard in a serial, i got to hear... the first time, i remember feeling dumbstruck, how beautiful sanaya's voice, the pace, the afternoon light, the tumble of memories, the exquisite words one leading to the next and then the talking to hawaein. just a touch of sixties' filminess, and a forlorn, filmi girl's tete a tete with an emotion, in her way. not cutesy, more romantic heroine in feel.

she had said baat aapki hai to him at the airport but without pondering as to why, it had come rushing out of her when she could find no way of convincing him. but today she entered that feeling.

the realisation is massive, its language had to be different from the chal khushi chal sort of inner chats she has. the story of asr and khushi started on a strange evening, in these months they have moved from the first meeting, always significant in a major love saga, through many layers to the heart level. to dhadkan, to saans. but the story continues deeper... maybe to soul, to our astral being, to an aspect of the human beyond the material. and that is possible only in a different space. in a different metre. in a different rhythm.

khushi is missing asr constantly and very badly, it's wearing her down. she feels distracted. the loss of the papers worries her further. she wants him back... but he is not there.

after a long time we see her making her jalebis. you almost feel relief for her. she is trying not to think of him... the memory of that beautful first meeting comes by... and then the dreadful last one.

"kuch toh kahin galat hai..." something is wrong somewhere... something is not adding up... why would he message her and not di... an uncanny sense of mishap, she worries.


the mountains of jalebi reach the table. once way back she had been worried and made "arnav" jalebi... that was then, the still light and fun filled days of ipk with its entrancing and hot nok jhoks. but now the jalebis will take us to another world... she has made the whole lot with less sugar for her sugar free man. he is not here.

naturally a bit of leg pulling ensues, and the girl who can handle such things quite easily, just can't take it and runs away to her room... where she feels his presence and his absence both

in nani's words we are told that she is in a different mind state... her memories bother her... unhen chhotey ki yaad satawat hai.


and khushi runs to her room, locks the door, weeps remembering the man she had fed jalebi to one day... her mate, whom she did hate. she goes to the cupboard and something catches something, next thing, pearls are dropping and tuhi bata mere maula fades in...


this nudging of emotion, memory by inanimate objects was always interesting in ipk. how adept her dupatta at talking to him, reaching him. now it's pearls and jalebi that talk to her, guide her to her feelings.

that very first time, he'd snapped the dori, she recalls.

kuch rishte ajeeb hi dor mein bandhe hote hai...

some relationships are tied with the strangest of threads... starts the soliloquy in sanaya's impeccable, strong yet rich with emotion delivery. yes, the snapping of dori was actually the tying of a thread... which brought them together instead of tearing them asunder. ajeeb it was... strange... as things in life often are.

takrar se shuru hotey hain... starts with a clash. he slaps money into her palm and turns away with a sardonic smile, amused she'd dared to tell asr that she'd pay for something...

with every line the memories pour and drench... in the guest house he slams her against a drum, in the rain he comes running and saves her.

some relationships are tied by a strange string
they start with a clash... they grow in the shade of hatred...
they fall, they crash, but they remain
the hatred keeps on growing and the knot
becomes even more firm
so much... that one day even hate shies away
from growing any more... and that relationship remains
only as a tie... but only of hatred.
sometimes it feels as if in this realm of hatred
there's something that says to me
this unheard, unknown, unspoken feeling
give it but a chance...
but a relationship whose cornerstone is hatred
to expect anything of it
wouldn't it be naivety and nothing else
perhaps this naivety i did act with
otherwise why despite so much hatred
i think of you...
why do i fight and quarrel with you
yet after you leave i look longingly for your return
speak to the winds of you...

even in a bad translation there is power in those words.


why, indeed, do such relationships not end not break...

the memories touch points of pain and connection, he is pulling her, he is dragging her into the temple, he is marrying her... and as she droops slowly, staring at the poolside where so much has transpired, where the winds possibly know him so she chats with them... this ethereal journey to the land of imagination unfolds

the four layers of: sanaya, her voice, tuhi bata, flashbacks and yes that emptiness, worked so well to paint an evocative canvas.

shyam and the daal sequence mirrored that lovely asr eating hot daal just to show her scene. now shyam in a distorted reflection of it. disgusting. was there really any need to up the lascivious lechery aspect appealing to our sense of the sordid because they feared the appeal to our yearning for romance would be affected during this time.

well the brief was tight, sometimes, pretty bad creative ideas seem to come of it too.



there was a sweet scene at the beginning where khushi talks to shiv about keeping asr safe, etc., then requests him not to tell dm that she spoke to him... i mean dm might take it to heart and khushi can't afford that.. a need to call out to the deities ti protect hers, her saans is in this one after all.


i wrote this on facebook today, quite overwhelmed by the scene, thought i'd leave it here too.

ipk 3 anniversary month still on. i wanted to just sigh over the beautiful writing and delivery by a lovely inward sounding voice. i have no idea who actually wrote the "shayad yeh nadani" soliloquy of khushi's. what i do know is you rarely get such depth of thought and words on telly. not in a serial certainly. falling in love and romance are not arcane niche things, there's loads of writing on this... naturally to find what stands out is tough. so many things start sounding the same. here there was a brief to writer i think to establish love including the feeling of falling in it without using the word love... also to say it all using nafrat, the feeling clearly identified by the speaker. hate is akin to love, ha, mills and boon stuff, right... so how come these guys took it to this classic level. no hesitation, no yikes i will regret this later, but this is fantastic writing.

and sanaya irani, such flawless delivery. hits the insides makes you want to feel exactly those feelings. whoever directed her for this one... arshad k or lalit m... may jalebis rain on you all your life.

soliloquy brings back college and deep consternation... couldn't understand a thing most times. this one could understand and not understand too ha ha... too good.

kabhi kabhi aisa lagta hai jaise
nafrat ke iss mahaul mein kuch toh hai...

iss ansuni... aanjani si... ankahe se ehsaas ko
ek mauqa toh do...
par jis rishte ki neev hi nafrat par rakhi hui ho
usse kuchh bhi umeed lagana
nadani nahin toh kya hota hai?
aur shayad yeh nadani hum kar baithe
warna kyun itne nafrat ke bawajud

just saw the episode again and was floored. hawao se baatein... uff.


this is just an amazing piece of writing that made me spell bound. i couldn't high light some lines.
cvs tried so hard to fill the blank of Barun. I appreciate their effort.
Your insightful writing of Khushi's soliloquy is a treat to read.Hats off to the writer who wrote it and a big applaud to my dearest sanaya for executing it so brilliantly. she is amazing and did an outstanding job to carry the show on her shoulder during Barun's absence.

Can't agree more what you said about the connection of the inanimate objects with their feelings.

Few random thoughts about the episodes. Mostly am writing for the sake of the lovely flashback sequences that are shown..😃


As everyone waited sleepily without actually worrying that the son of the house had not called, Khushi's cell phone vibrates. The message read that Arnavji has reached safely. A normal person would be pacified after this, but the woman's instinct knows way better. And she is proven correct in worrying as we are shown the phone at the other end in unknown hands of a strange man.

hmmm...I know but at the same time they are used to his behavior, eating alone, going away alone each year...


Payal manages to complete one actual dialogue before Nani shoos her off to bed. The next scene was quite sweet. Khushi lay with her head resting on naniji. Naniji remembering chote as a kid was ok , but I prefer Aakash's memory of being glued during a summer vacation. The slightly startled rueful look and hidden smile from the elder cousin brother as he heard Aakash speak had my imagination go into overdrive. What kind of a kid would chote have been?

Chottey must not was a regular kid for sure.

Khushi doesn't need another person's memories. She has her own recollection of the man who is now her husband. Who even in his absence is troubling her immensely. Causing her to miss him immensely. A familiar soft long drawn out.. hey hey.. I close my eyes and let those memories take over me as well..


She was hopelessly trapped in the crumbling ruins of the building. No one could hear her except devi maiya. As her tear filled eyes came into focus the very man who presumably had sent her to have this close call with death was frantically trying to save her. Grabbed her arm and pulled her along with him with every right. As everything around them collapsed a love story before my eyes continued to solidify.

She stood in the rain in tears again this time. All she wanted was to go home to celebrate jiji's bday. The man responsible for the tears had come in the nick of time and saved her. Had her safe in his arms as he held her close as raindrops fell in full force. She shivered and he roughly thrust his jacket to her. She stood drenched, her slender fingers clutching the piece of fabric that he had been wearing seconds before.

They were in an SUV this time like many other times. This time he was mad with worry about her. Moments ago he had been mad with jealousy, but as the glass of the bangle cut her wrist drawing out blood, Arnav Singh Raiza forgot everything else except the beautiful girl in pain sitting in in his car's front seat. Dammit use kuch ho jata toh!


They had declared they would not see each other's face again. Would stay away. So then why was he was there on the footsteps of the mandir? Concentrating with single threaded focus on wrapping a bandage on her bleeding ring finger.. Intent on the task..Not looking at her.. Still angry, most probably not even sure why he was there in the first place.


The same fingers desperately clinging on to the same hand. He forcibly wretched his hand away. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada had been unable to stop him from leaving. Tear stricken she had followed him but his resolute steps took him further from her reach as he strode away.

She misses him. A lot. Sapne mein bhi rabba ve.. We have that all the time..Welcome to the love struck club Khushi..😆😆

Those were the realizations she is getting now to understand that he was in love and got hurt in this process and today she is understanding the meaning of what he said"jo chot mujhe tumhari wajha se..."

Which brings me to Shyam. Strange that he claims to love Khushi , but I think now he does not even like her. Can't stand her. Earlier it was definitely not a pure emotion, but there was some feeling that her presence evoked in him. Now he is quite rude to her, heartless to her plight. Not affected by her in any way. He concetrates on the money. Claiming her as his own plaything perhaps is the only reason she still holds value for him. Also he might want to teach saale saab a lesson. These are his only motivation from what I can see. When we started off there was a certain emotion he felt for this beautiful girl , but know he can only see himself. And nothing past his own self. A sick deranged man. And Abhaas looks also a bit different from how we first saw him.

Shyam had a lust , a male's worse shape...when it comes and lingers in them, an animal and a human merges together and that one step makes them worse than an animal...

There is a London conference which has all Indians. And Arnavji is not there.😆😆

Sugar Free jilebis. I promise when I was writing that in my first and only OS, till now, I had no idea Khushi had done this on the show. Must have been in memory subconsciously after that first watch. But I did skip a lot of these episodes so maybe I thought of that all by myself.

Another deluge of memories hits her as she rushes into her room. Not in control. Not aware of anything. Not sensible. Not responsible. Not strong. Just in love.

I love my Khushi, she has this lovable feature and attitude which makes u fall for her...


The laad governor lay vulnerable slumped across the kitchen wall asking for sweets. Sweet that were forbidden to him. Sweets that she loved to eat. She held a jilebi tentatively as he trustingly open his mouth to take a bite. Still to weak to open his eyes.

that was the fist sweet nector of Khushi he ever touched, that was their first private moment, no one was home and he remembered all during Nainital trip


A sadness transcending the frame.. As tears transcend those eyes.. rabba ve.. rabba ve.. She doesn't know why she is in this forlorn state.. Why she is making her favourite jilebis for the man who has left her crying.


A familiar long forgotten song plays as a clear soft earnest voice wonders out loud..

After I love u Dammit it will come again because that day their search especially Khushi's search for him will stop...

The first time she met this arrogant stranger he locked her up.. Crossed all boundaries of proprietary as he invaded her personal space.. Stood impossibly close.. Steely eyed unmoved by her tears and words.. Till the inertness gave way to scary anger.. Pulled her close and tore her dori.. Pristine pearls rocketed off the hard floor..


Placed money in the hands of the new girl in the big city. His derogatory remarks only succeeded in challenging her further. As Khushi lashed out at ASR the first time he actually tried to help her, he tried hard to control her. Instead lost all semblance of control himself. Saved her from a speeding car as he left her to soak in the rain. Repeatedly completely breaking boundaries. Hate with every fibre of their being. Resist and be unable to resist however hard they tried. Find herself in his arms. Find herself hating him yet unable to stay away.

True lovers indeed, unlike Payesh...they have found every reason to be with each other...


Finally the memory of a ceremony that irreversibly altered their lives.. A marriage.. Another memory of being proclaimed his wife for the world to see as he carried her in his arms across the temple.. Twirled her, dipped her, touched her, danced with her.. Inflamed her with unbidden feelings..👏


Did not bother to accuse her. Instead carried out the sentence.. She was a characterless girl out to destroy his di's happiness.. And nothing she said or did would convince him otherwise.. He will not be stopped by her.. He will not listen to her..


What Khushi says from her heart I think I heard for the very first time. In our thread everyone often quotes this soliloquy. It is lovely. This discovery and acceptance of a strange new indescribable feeling. It started off with hatred. That was clear cut, defined. Then came all that could not be put into words. Could not be categorized and neatly classified. There was attraction, concern, excitement, longing, happiness, laughter, togetherness, belonging. And whatever sensible reason there might be to not have any hopes her heart still dared to hope. When there is a feeling with no name, nothing that can truly explain everything going inside you. When it could hurt you yet you want it. Yet you don't want it to leave you. When you miss someone so much that in his absence you talk to the winds.

Beautiful personification...this tu hi bata mere Maula is the most significant one ...in their lives and it always comes when their search within takes a leap...

like first one when Khushi landed in his office with contract and his di tells him a girl will come and his sansain ruk jayengi...second when he dropped sindoor in collision on Bhersarai...teej...third after their first hug...he lands his hand on her to be her protector, then arousing a woman in her on Diwali but with heartbreak and then bandaging her wounded heart wrapping his name on her...and then finally today completely arousing her feeling, making her realize his TRUE love...it wil come last time on I love u dammit...when her search for him will stop forever...


And really if you could scientifically, logically give reasons for why one person falls in love with a another person I would like to believe that kind of love leaves something to want for. Love is when you have a million reasons and yet they are insufficient to capture all that you feel and sometimes you can't remember a single reason why you feel the way you feel and yet that is all that you feel.👏👏

it was such a stupendous few moments with khushi, took my breath away... again and again. sanaya was brilliant. so giving.

me too dying looking at jalebi boy and his jhalli girl... oh h this was the start to nainital... kills me that one... kya karoon... should i write, should i make a vm, should i just get completely restless and go to sleep... tu hi bata...😆

"Aur jo chot tum ne mujhe pohnchai hai uska kia..."..[ What about the wound you've given me] ..Arnav spilled the half truth of his pain that day after finding his life and bringing her back home, realizing that without her he is nothing...and she asked, "Kya.." aap yahan se aise nahin ja sakte jab tak aap humain yeh nahin batate keh hum ne aapko kaisi chot pohnchai hai.." ...[What? You can't go anywhere without telling me what kind of wound I've given you...?]...

Khushi had no idea the depth of his love and the wound he's been scratching in his frustration of being mad at himself loving her the way he does.But after his departure Khushi is recollecting the gems of his deep love which he scattered all around her since the day one. Just like Buaji explained the virtues of Khushi to him by taking examples of chillies, Naniji disclosed Arnav's motives to Khushi by the story of his childhood."Jab wo kissi ke waste kuch nahin kar sakat hain to khud ko hi saza daine lagat hain...aise hi hain humare Chote..." ...[When He can't do anything for anyone then he punished himself...] This is the key element which is awakening her conscious about all the encounters where she misjudged him since guesthouse incident till now.Now she knows the reason of his wound and the depth of his love for him and the reason of his hatred towards his loving her.

good observation. she is confirmed now that the shaitan is actually a rajkumar.

New morning has risen a new wave of tremor in RM without any movement or trail but Khushi is following that trail unintentionally.She is missing Arnav so much and his name and khiyal[thoughts] are making her more and more restless.Food and Khushi's worries are friends like forever...She makes breakfast for Anjali and takes it to her room and gets a glimpse of first trail...Will Papers...

I must say"kanwa chala hans ki chaal aur khud ki chall bhool baitha..." you know what I'm saying...In Arnav's absence Shyam is thinking he is the one who will rule all...time will tell Mr Slither...

Shyam's activity became unbearable during Arnav's absence. it was disgusting to see him pretending like the boss of the house.

Symbolism and connection:Laxmi's help makes her reaching one step , may be tiny but yes one step towards the goal...Will's paper...remember I told you these papers have no meaning without Arnav's life...and these are going to be under the crib...and that unborn is going to pay the ultimate price...Will is Shyam' s greed and his virtues...which will be exposed...during this time...

Laxmi has 4 elephants...and those represent directions with wisdom and faithfulness to the master...Khushi is going to be exposed to Shyam's true picture to save Arnav's life.

Here also connects Payal's cut pics pieces...which Mamiji is figuring out ...yes puzzle pieces where Mamiji will also help her to join together to get the puzzle pieces of Shyam and later Nk will join and Payal will open her mouth too.Meaning whole family will complete this puzzle of Shyam which only Khushi and Arnav has seen yet.


Lovely touch of outdoor and Naniji & Anjali's attempt to bring Shyam into light ...with them in Mandir...Khushi takes the opportunity to find about the papers , a trail towards her suspicious...but her restlessness about Arnav has not gone unnoticed by them either.But her disappointment grabs her not finding papers as Slither is one step ahead of her.His sardonic and vicious smile just disgusts me...


Emergence of a woman through every word and action is shaping up a new storm behind this temporarily calmness of the surroundings .The brewing up anger in her is settling into deep concerns, concerns are raving up into realizations and that turns hopes up with rebellious desires "to be with him" no matter what , "to claim him as hers" no matter what ...indeed "ek din nafrat bhi sharma jati hai ...agar ek mauqa diya jaye..."..[Hate gets defeated in front of love eventually]...

She is entering the temple where he broke her fast on Teej .Her each step is closer to that eternal touch of his by sipping the "Abe Hayat" which he gave her couple of months ago but she scolds at him for that "Why did you give me that ... you broke my fast", yes broken fast "mujhe nahi pata tha keh tumhara...tum behosh ho rahi theen.."[ u were getting fainted..I didn't know you are fastening]...He never knew about Her getting trapped into Shyam's games but he still saved her from all the dizziness of this whole game under DeviMaiya's supervision...He offered her eternal life with him and that's what he's been offering her all along either in hate or love and today she understood that by embracing each step towards it.She got the real meaning of his each action and her each step is getting forward with redemption f her misunderstanding him...Sad Rabba Ve joins her distraught condition...

She is standing in front of Lord Shiv not Devi Maiya and praying for her Arnavji's welfare as his wife... aap bas unka khyal rakhein aur haan unn se kahiyega jaldi wapas aa jayain"...[ Just take care of him and please tell him to come back soon]

Shiv,The Lord of "mercy and repentance" ...as She is repenting for all of her actions today .Lord Shiv also has the power vanquishing evil and she is gathering that from Lord Shiv to vanquish Shyam's evil plot as their positions [Khushi is in between Shyam and Anjali]...while standing in front of Shiv is ringing those bells. "aap hamein chodiye...hum apni mushkile khud suljha lenge...aur haan "humne apni dil ki baat aapke saamne rakhi,yeh baat aap Devi Maiyya se mat kahiyega". [ I can take care of myself..Don't tell DeviMaiya that I opened up in front of you]...Last time she declared to Devimaiya that she won't speak to her and doesn't have any intension to stay here but today she is here for her husband...her Arnavji...She has done every ritual under Devi Maiya's supervision and today she is completing the circle with Lord Shiv with her pure , innocent and eternal acceptance of her Love for Arnavji..."Apne pati keh liye..jinse hum bohat pyar karte hain.." and She will declare these words to the Evil later.

Very sad and emotional phase was going in IPK. Or moreover the man was not there, so everything was already melancholic. And Khushi's undecipherable grief added more sadness to the track. But i 'm loving the lovelorn Khushi more than the silly one. Sanaya is excellent both in comedy and intense role. She did a fab job to take the show on her shoulder during Barun's absence.

Thnx sohara and yes it was a strange time in IPK with all the news of his leaving , not coming back ...but Sanaya did really good job there in those 40 days...and that was one thing carrying the news of his kidnapping to her , doing all kinds of stuff just to meet the odds of his movie interruption...over and over again...I remember Gul mentioned in her interviews it was supposed to be consummation in the hit but Barun had to go back on film shooting and that's why they changed the script again...

any way no complaints as IPK is , was still better than anything was or is on...

saw the two episodes this morning, a slightly tired sunday felt even more listless and wan after watching.

definitely the absence is being felt.

like that evening on the terrace... the long conversation with a married man who has long stalked and harassed you, yet, you insist on finishing the conversation... here too.

why, she was more spirited and fiery when she met the horrid mr raizada the first time. she made every attempt to leave. here she stood and kept telling shyam to go, knowing full well by now his penchant for melodrama...

and who wrote that shyam bit? what was the purpose? the same leching and insinuating and crazy making of khushi could have been done without the village belle like going for bath sequence methinks. or maybe they should have given him a little pitcher to fill water.😆😆 really, so he skulked in her room, waiting for her to appear so he could show her his biceps and triceps and get her on a sensual high? i mean really what was the reason for this bilious scene?

he speaks of her angry eyes turning him on. ok, i thought of the angry eyes that do actually turn her on...if that was the writer's intention, a smooth reminder of the gussa man... i am okay with with those few words.

but khushi's eyes would have grown stormy and more without shyam's off shoulder look.

another reminder of the man in his cousin stealing his stance and word. uff akash said, "enough!"

how terribly wrong it sounded coming from him.

and how the heart leaped at a memory.

two episodes and more went showing several strangers with as many phones talking about mr r not reaching london.

were these all hints of the phonecall on the way? finally when you are tired of the many phonecalls will come the one true phonecall.

well, since i can't get my passport and visa to london in a day, and several weeks of outsourcing and human bungling must be factored in, i better shut up and recede to my corner, hurt. whether an actor is present or not, the viewer always is...might have been great if makers considered this person. the actor gave notice and left, the creators left it seemed without even bothering to tell me.

so yes, kidnap gave us some fantastic and unbelievable moments.

but always when the one who had taken a little time off was there.

makes me wonder about the level of talent and commitment of the writers and other creatives...


It was arduous for cvs to fill the blank of the man. I mean how the show can run for 1.5 month without the male protagonist, whereas he was the heart of the show. the FB part was also less in these two episodes.
i loved your comment about shyam. it was hilarious. Believe me when shyam comes on the screen I try not to look at him, he is so disgusting. I don't know what cvs was trying to do by showing his bare body, to grab trp! what a sick mentality!

Khushi had no idea the depth of his love and the wound he's been scratching in his frustration of being mad at himself loving her the way he does.But after his departure Khushi is recollecting the gems of his deep love which he scattered all around her since the day one. i like what you say here, yes after he left suddenly she started missing him terribly. while he was there, there was too much going on to concentrate on the really important, happen in real life to, don't you think? but in the other's absence suddenly the heart focuses on what it needs to.

Just like Buaji explained the virtues of Khushi to him by taking examples of chillies, Naniji disclosed Arnav's motives to Khushi by the story of his childhood."Jab wo kissi ke waste kuch nahin kar sakat hain to khud ko hi saza daine lagat hain...aise hi hain humare Chote..." ...[When He can't do anything for anyone then he punished himself...] This is the key element which is awakening her conscious about all the encounters where she misjudged him since guesthouse incident till now.Now she knows the reason of his wound and the depth of his love for him and the reason of his hatred towards his loving her.

New morning has risen a new wave of tremor in RM without any movement or trail but Khushi is following that trail unintentionally.She is missing Arnav so much and his name and khiyal[thoughts] are making her more and more restless.Food and Khushi's worries are friends like forever...She makes breakfast for Anjali and takes it to her room and gets a glimpse of first trail...Will Papers...

I must say"kanwa chala hans ki chaal aur khud ki chall bhool baitha..." you know what I'm saying...In Arnav's absence Shyam is thinking he is the one who will rule all...time will tell Mr Slither... disgusting attempt to step into asr's shoes.

Symbolism and connection:Laxmi's help makes her reaching one step , may be tiny but yes one step towards the goal...Will's paper...remember I told you these papers have no meaning without Arnav's life...and these are going to be under the crib...and that unborn is going to pay the ultimate price...Will is Shyam' s greed and his virtues...which will be exposed...during this time...

Laxmi has 4 elephants...and those represent directions with wisdom and faithfulness to the master...Khushi is going to be exposed to Shyam's true picture to save Arnav's life.

Here also connects Payal's cut pics pieces...which Mamiji is figuring out ...yes puzzle pieces where Mamiji will also help her to join together to get the puzzle pieces of Shyam and later Nk will join and Payal will open her mouth too.Meaning whole family will complete this puzzle of Shyam which only Khushi and Arnav has seen yet.


Lovely touch of outdoor and Naniji & Anjali's attempt to bring Shyam into light ...with them in Mandir...Khushi takes the opportunity to find about the papers , a trail towards her suspicious...but her restlessness about Arnav has not gone unnoticed by them either.But her disappointment grabs her not finding papers as Slither is one step ahead of her.His sardonic and vicious smile just disgusts me...


Emergence of a woman through every word and action is shaping up a new storm behind this temporarily calmness of the surroundings .The brewing up anger in her is settling into deep concerns, concerns are raving up into realizations and that turns hopes up with rebellious desires "to be with him" no matter what , "to claim him as hers" no matter what ...indeed "ek din nafrat bhi sharma jati hai ...agar ek mauqa diya jaye..."..[Hate gets defeated in front of love eventually]...

She is entering the temple where he broke her fast on Teej .Her each step is closer to that eternal touch of his by sipping the "Abe Hayat" which he gave her couple of months ago but she scolds at him for that "Why did you give me that ... you broke my fast", yes broken fast "mujhe nahi pata tha keh tumhara...tum behosh ho rahi theen.."[ u were getting fainted..I didn't know you are fastening]...He never knew about Her getting trapped into Shyam's games but he still saved her from all the dizziness of this whole game under DeviMaiya's supervision...He offered her eternal life with him and that's what he's been offering her all along either in hate or love and today she understood that by embracing each step towards it.She got the real meaning of his each action and her each step is getting forward with redemption f her misunderstanding him...Sad Rabba Ve joins her distraught condition...

[ I can take care of myself..Don't tell DeviMaiya that I opened up in front of you]...Last time she declared to Devimaiya that she won't speak to her and doesn't have any intension to stay here but today she is here for her husband...her Arnavji...She has done every ritual under Devi Maiya's supervision and today she is completing the circle with Lord Shiv with her pure , innocent and eternal acceptance of her Love for Arnavji..."Apne pati keh liye..jinse hum bohat pyar karte hain.." and She will declare these words to the Evil later.

a moving and insightful take... liked your last thought a lot... she had to see this before coming out of her good girl self... this evil must be fought the way it will be defeated, not as an honest upright warrior... this one needs chhal and kapat for capture.

i am still struggling with what was really meant by what nani said about arnav's nature ... that whole peetal ka bartan thing. because i don;t understand it it irritates me, yet i keep feeling there's something i have missed there.

a tight brief, which doesn't give you everything you want often produces the best of things. it creates necessity... the thing that stokes the thinking, the imagination and gives birth to something new, beautiful. a thing born to serve a purpose but sometimes far exceeding its need it becomes a want... a desire... like this enchanting set piece in the middle of the everyday, the ordinary, in an episode of a serial.

had barun not gone away for a bit. had there not been panic about how to keep the show going with the hero not around. had there not been a need to keep the love story alive. had there been no hair tearing about the famous chemistry gone missing. had there not been heads wondering if they'd roll in case trp went down.

but there had been all of that. and show had to go on. writers had to create "tracks" that worked. their only key, the female lead... asr had already acknowledged to himself his feelings for khushi, but writers had still not worked out khushi's realisattion. i've heard ved raj mention this and how challenging it was to find the right moment and method for this.

the hero is not there. he cannot be interacted with in the "real" world. perhaps that was the gate through which they neatly stepped into another space, a bit of surreality, the sphere of imagination. kidnap is drizzled with dreams, reveries, telepathy, spaces where the imagination goes and claims real estate... beyond the restrictions and barriers of the three dimensions. in a thought world, sometimes far more potent than the "things" world.

two episodes back khushi had dreamed of him and had a lover's premonition. she ran frantically in search of the man she loved, becoming his woman while he was far away. maybe he heard her? maybe he called her?

today something inanimate yet always a part of her emotions, a sign of her in fact, a little orange swirl, crunchy outside, soft and sweet inside, her jalebi, it took her straight to him and her longing, her memory, her first declaration of love... she made it to herself. because it was she who needed to know it maybe, before she could tell anyone else.

and perhaps the most lovely and enduring and insightful soliloquy i have ever heard in a serial, i got to hear... the first time, i remember feeling dumbstruck, how beautiful sanaya's voice, the pace, the afternoon light, the tumble of memories, the exquisite words one leading to the next and then the talking to hawaein. just a touch of sixties' filminess, and a forlorn, filmi girl's tete a tete with an emotion, in her way. not cutesy, more romantic heroine in feel.

she had said baat aapki hai to him at the airport but without pondering as to why, it had come rushing out of her when she could find no way of convincing him. but today she entered that feeling.

the realisation is massive, its language had to be different from the chal khushi chal sort of inner chats she has. the story of asr and khushi started on a strange evening, in these months they have moved from the first meeting, always significant in a major love saga, through many layers to the heart level. to dhadkan, to saans. but the story continues deeper... maybe to soul, to our astral being, to an aspect of the human beyond the material. and that is possible only in a different space. in a different metre. in a different rhythm.

khushi is missing asr constantly and very badly, it's wearing her down. she feels distracted. the loss of the papers worries her further. she wants him back... but he is not there.

after a long time we see her making her jalebis. you almost feel relief for her. she is trying not to think of him... the memory of that beautful first meeting comes by... and then the dreadful last one.

"kuch toh kahin galat hai..." something is wrong somewhere... something is not adding up... why would he message her and not di... an uncanny sense of mishap, she worries.


the mountains of jalebi reach the table. once way back she had been worried and made "arnav" jalebi... that was then, the still light and fun filled days of ipk with its entrancing and hot nok jhoks. but now the jalebis will take us to another world... she has made the whole lot with less sugar for her sugar free man. he is not here.

naturally a bit of leg pulling ensues, and the girl who can handle such things quite easily, just can't take it and runs away to her room... where she feels his presence and his absence both

in nani's words we are told that she is in a different mind state... her memories bother her... unhen chhotey ki yaad satawat hai.


and khushi runs to her room, locks the door, weeps remembering the man she had fed jalebi to one day... her mate, whom she did hate. she goes to the cupboard and something catches something, next thing, pearls are dropping and tuhi bata mere maula fades in...


this nudging of emotion, memory by inanimate objects was always interesting in ipk. how adept her dupatta at talking to him, reaching him. now it's pearls and jalebi that talk to her, guide her to her feelings.

that very first time, he'd snapped the dori, she recalls.

kuch rishte ajeeb hi dor mein bandhe hote hai...

some relationships are tied with the strangest of threads... starts the soliloquy in sanaya's impeccable, strong yet rich with emotion delivery. yes, the snapping of dori was actually the tying of a thread... which brought them together instead of tearing them asunder. ajeeb it was... strange... as things in life often are.

takrar se shuru hotey hain... starts with a clash. he slaps money into her palm and turns away with a sardonic smile, amused she'd dared to tell asr that she'd pay for something...

with every line the memories pour and drench... in the guest house he slams her against a drum, in the rain he comes running and saves her.

some relationships are tied by a strange string
they start with a clash... they grow in the shade of hatred...
they fall, they crash, but they remain
the hatred keeps on growing and the knot
becomes even more firm
so much... that one day even hate shies away
from growing any more... and that relationship remains
only as a tie... but only of hatred.
sometimes it feels as if in this realm of hatred
there's something that says to me
this unheard, unknown, unspoken feeling
give it but a chance...
but a relationship whose cornerstone is hatred
to expect anything of it
wouldn't it be naivety and nothing else
perhaps this naivety i did act with
otherwise why despite so much hatred
i think of you...
why do i fight and quarrel with you
yet after you leave i look longingly for your return
speak to the winds of you...

even in a bad translation there is power in those words.


why, indeed, do such relationships not end not break...

the memories touch points of pain and connection, he is pulling her, he is dragging her into the temple, he is marrying her... and as she droops slowly, staring at the poolside where so much has transpired, where the winds possibly know him so she chats with them... this ethereal journey to the land of imagination unfolds

the four layers of: sanaya, her voice, tuhi bata, flashbacks and yes that emptiness, worked so well to paint an evocative canvas.

shyam and the daal sequence mirrored that lovely asr eating hot daal just to show her scene. now shyam in a distorted reflection of it. disgusting. was there really any need to up the lascivious lechery aspect appealing to our sense of the sordid because they feared the appeal to our yearning for romance would be affected during this time.

well the brief was tight, sometimes, pretty bad creative ideas seem to come of it too.



there was a sweet scene at the beginning where khushi talks to shiv about keeping asr safe, etc., then requests him not to tell dm that she spoke to him... i mean dm might take it to heart and khushi can't afford that.. a need to call out to the deities ti protect hers, her saans is in this one after all.


i wrote this on facebook today, quite overwhelmed by the scene, thought i'd leave it here too.

ipk 3 anniversary month still on. i wanted to just sigh over the beautiful writing and delivery by a lovely inward sounding voice. i have no idea who actually wrote the "shayad yeh nadani" soliloquy of khushi's. what i do know is you rarely get such depth of thought and words on telly. not in a serial certainly. falling in love and romance are not arcane niche things, there's loads of writing on this... naturally to find what stands out is tough. so many things start sounding the same. here there was a brief to writer i think to establish love including the feeling of falling in it without using the word love... also to say it all using nafrat, the feeling clearly identified by the speaker. hate is akin to love, ha, mills and boon stuff, right... so how come these guys took it to this classic level. no hesitation, no yikes i will regret this later, but this is fantastic writing.

and sanaya irani, such flawless delivery. hits the insides makes you want to feel exactly those feelings. whoever directed her for this one... arshad k or lalit m... may jalebis rain on you all your life.

soliloquy brings back college and deep consternation... couldn't understand a thing most times. this one could understand and not understand too ha ha... too good.

Indi, I realize I missed reading your two most important pieces.. this is one of them.. I couldn't be glad to come back to this. Your brilliantly interpretive writing of that soliloquy doing as many things if not more as the original writers..👏
All those edits superlative..
We were dying to hear/ see Khushi's emotions for him by that time. We have seen asr thoroughly smitten, inundated, angered.. I don't think I ever saw as much range and intensity of emotions as asr exuded for khushi anywhere else.. but her feelings were mostly confined to being confused till that time .. which wasn't justice enough..as you said I am glad writers found a clean zone to portray them.. to show us the rarely surfacing woman underneath this jhalli girl..
yes, they didn't even use the word love...but "nadani" was even beautiful I thought.. something that happens without even one's accord... loved that little dark lighting effect there.. how well that French door was made use of many a times.. I miss that door as much as these two..
One thing about Sanaya's voice, I don't know it doesn't sound as effectively for me in low/ serene pitches like here as it does in those instances of high pitch, the resignation or guest house ones. Her crystal quality worked wonderfully well for those. Where as for barun's "Shayad mera dil tumhe pukartha hai".. I can simply die at the feet of his modulation there..such feel, emotion.. he doesn't even need to pukar.. I hear all that ...
