It was so beautiful, and so profound that it brought to my mind the painting i had seen once of 'proshitapatika' described as one of the eight nayikas or heroines in Sanskrit and Hindi drama. She is described as waiting for her husband who was expected to return after completing his business, but hasn't arrived. She is worried for him and refuses to be consoled by her friends and family.

Oh Wiwy thanks a lot. my words reminding you of a painting! am all smiles..

I went and googled 'proshitapatika' . Such a lovely pose the woman sits in! And it is a dance pose as well.. I was Radha once in a school ras leela (my Krishna a senior girl though it was a co ed school! 😕 ) and my teachers had taught me to sit and look forlorn, legs tucked in at an angle, hand under the chin, face slightly tilted upwards, staring out, searching.. now after all these years I understand the significance..look at what another teacher is teaching me.. haha amazing.. Thank you!

Episode 253

A beautiful word often used in Hindi poetry for Radha Krishna, Ram Sita.. "Virah".. Longing in separation from a lover.. In a soliloquy as Sita remained a captive of Ravana she sings.." She wished she could stop breathing now that she is away from Ram since it is so painful to draw in each breath. Yet the lingering hope of the eyes catching a glimpse of him again keeps her going. And she refuses to close those eyes." I was quite young when I read it and it was supposed to be a religious text. But something told me this is how separation is meant to feel.

Time passes in jolts. Sometimes chunks whizz by and sometimes each millisecond drags into an unending eternity.

It is all about love really. How with him lies her sanity, her strength. With him gone everything is dull, unreal, a shadow of what he left behind. He is her sun and the moon can only shine when the sun's life giving rays fall on it. Her center of gravity is no longer in front of her eyes. How meaningless and empty everything is! She is but hollow, incomplete without him.

She looks ethereal in white. Forlorn. Her hand curls around his shirt in a fleeting wisp of her memory. Tonight her lonely hand balls itself into a fist. Uneasy sleep. And a haunting beautiful dream, I confess, details of which I had forgotten from my first watch. Nice in a way. Like am seeing it with fresh eyes for the very first time. A splendid visual imagery that assaults your senses. Nothing grand in this low budget Indian show. The grandeur is when they catch the human emotions and display it for us to revel in. I am no Sigmund Freud. I cannot interpret the dream. But I do see the love. Pearls. Mannat ki chabhi. Her amma's payal. As women's instinct returned in full force. A lover transformed into a seer.

Destiny threw her right in the arms of a steely eyes stranger. He threw the harshest of unthinkable insults at her. A terrible adventure she had landed herself in. A place she could not even imagine remotely. Dressed in her finest and made even more alluring, a dupatta trampled under his feet. His arms around her. A handsome magnetic face that had stared right back at her.. And then had been captivated by her.. lips? Why had it felt unreal, but possibly altered her forever. Irrevocably entangled two lives. He had dared to tear away her pristine pearl dori. Those innocent jewels lay scattered at their feet. Falling as if in slow motion . Magnified hypnotic as they bounced off the hard floor. But had she been more alive than at that moment under his unwavering unnerving stare, slipping away the restrains from her hair to regain back her pride. Alive that's what this dangerous dance with fire had felt like. Khushi Kumari Gupta perhaps always had needed Arnav Singh Raizada to reach her true potential. Or simply to fill in those hollow nooks and corners within her.

What made her hold on to a key that belonged to the rude, arrogant, cynical man who made it clear he did not believe in anything nice. Why did his dreams feel precious? Worth guarding with her life. A secret just hers to treasure. An incomprehensible tie already forged with this devil incarnate. Something that safely silently remained in her bright gaudy jhola as a reminder of an inexplicable spark. She had not thrown it away but kept it close.

Her amma's payal.. He had kept that close to him. Tenderly with utmost devotion in his eyes he had placed in on her feet the night she felt like a princess in a fairy tale. Glittering gleaming lights everywhere. People celebrating all around. But just one man before her. Gazing at her like no one had ever looked at her before. Her thoughts taking an unbidden direction. She could not control them that night. Her eyes kept returning to the man who was making her feel like a woman. The most beautiful woman. She had felt a strange sense of exhilaration. Did she understand the power that she held over him? That regular Khushi Kumari Gupta had been enough and more than enough to draw Arnav Singh Raizada in. New sensations flooding and illuminating her being. She knew deep within he wanted her that night and she had wanted him. She was in love. And desire a beautiful expression of that love. He had taken care of her, made her feel safe. Magically conjured her amma's payal and put it on her. His touch has seared her skin and she had craved for more. Not sure what, but there had to be more.

But life had gotten complicated. It felt necessary to hate him when all her heart really wanted to do was shower him with affection..with love... Now he was gone and something was terribly undeniably wrong. He was calling out to her.."Khushi.." her name on his lips..his sould reaching out to his soulmate.. her.."Khushi".. A prayer.. A gentle caress.. A cry for help.. Just her.. He needed her.. Just like she needed him.. was nothing without him.. Oblivion.. She had to find him.. Reach him before it was too late.. Urgency.. Panic.. Oh where are you my love?!

Tonight she doesn't care if the whole family's sleep is disturbed. Single threaded focus on him. No ego that even after her tearful pleading he boarded the flight. He should be the one to call. No... She will call him. And if he isn't calling, some misfortune has surely befallen him. Not conscious of what everyone is thinking. No necessity to keep up appearances, behave normal, calm, collected. No... Tonight she will just be a loving wife waiting and worrying for husband. He always said we should do what feels right to us and give a damn about what is the expected norm. Tonight she unknowingly embraced it as she emerged a premika...his lover..his wife.. Her sole existence breathes of her love. It is just him. And no one else, nothing else matters but him.

Rhea, beautiful take of episode 253. That certain connection right from the start. Why did she keep that mannat ki chaabi? He had given her no reason to do so, quite the contrary. Like Indi Di had mentioned in one of her posts, to see these two again. They were magic! How many episodes to go till we get that khushi I love you?!!!

Thank you kizh.. It's really quiet here.. I think we need the I love you soon.. Oh how I wonder why she held on to that key.. Maybe the same reason he knew across the phone his wife was in tears and needed to hear the three magic words.. Indi di would know about the magic.. Midnight sorceress is she 😉... Wonder where she is... Thank you for liking my take..

Wiwy, brilliant comparison with Proshitapatika, Khushi is indeed one..
Ashta vidha nayika.. a delineation that always interested me immense...we have them in Telugu lit as well...Abhisarika is the most famous one.. entered into adjective ... Looks like even a stamp was released of her painting by Abanindranath Tagore..
Rhea, after that ek do teen.. and that vivid dance description, you are our Proshitapatika..:)

Rhea, Kizh... the chabi talk ..

Her crystal clear ringing voice "suniye, aap ki mannat ki chabi gir gayee" and his cold, detached... if I may.. almost a sage- like "phenk do" ringing in my head ..
The way I saw it... the evident reason was to establish her diametrically opposite ideology to his.. that she firmly believes in what he doesn't care for.. its not hers yet she couldn't knowingly throw even some one else's mannat..at this point she/they may not have any emotions for each other yet given her belief system, she perhaps felt a surreal connection seeing him there in that sacred ambience esp becos she just prayed to quazaji not to bring him to her again.. and there he is... in all his glorious gussa.. like "think of the devil".. unknowingly she must have been intrigued that there is more to this - what looks like a- currently nonexistent relationship... couldn't possibly throw..
A divine intervention was very cleverly and consistently been maintained since the start...her very coming into his own sheeshmahal to her loosing at DM temple the appointment letter of AR designs that Shyam gave her so she ended up working with him instead of at the warehouse.. And how this chabi from months ago has been instrumental in formally bonding them together in that mandir bandagement.. she wouldn't have come back to his den at RM but for that chabi...
The framework of the plot is very very coherent and unbelievably consistent for months in a tv world where characters play slave every week to the whimsical TRPs..no wonder we are still talking about it ..

Indu oh 'sage' like.. do proshitapatika's look for the return of 'sage' like men with glorious gussa? Then maybe our whole thread is full of them.. 😆 Completely agree about the coherence and consistency. It also made everything believable. There was one episode when the two don't meet but she sees the tycoon's picture in a newspaper article while wrapping food from her shop in it! Clever clever writing..

And the whole paragraph in purple.. Aah you have me dreaming about it all.. Imagine seeing the person, you just asked devi maiyya to not have to meet, right in front of you. Of all the places, in a dargah, where perhaps you least expected him. You in pristine white and he in mysterious black. Someone's mannat ki chabhi fell and you called out, extended your arm to hand out the key, he turns. And its him! Haha if that happens it sure is devi maiyya's way of saying no point in even trying to fight it. You both are in this together forever now...

And such attention to details in the writing. He wouldn't have released the video footage if it hadn't been for the face off at the dargah. All gods joining hands to bring the two closer..

Rhea, oh yeah we have all been PPs (proshitapatikas) ever since, only that you got to visually enact it too..:)

yeah, the tycoon in the news paper. to be used for samosa wrapping...:) their missing, thinking of each other during that brief period was very well done.. giving a great build up his eventual finding her in his closet.. He wouldn't have gone to Dargah but for Anj's mannat.. they wouldn't have met.. he would n't have gotten mad at her and released the video.. set the stone for everything else..Those initial events are such interlocked chain reactions, hard to trace where it all started but for that they are destined to be..
Almost forgot to say, the sage like, he was so focused and determined at what he was doing, to build his/ their lives from the scratch again, without harming anyone in the process, there is a sheer energy in that focus.. the hallmark of rishis ..how I felt it...lunacy unlimited???!!

... he was an embodiment of concentration... his target is the only thing in his eyes... there is a great focus in him directors could envisage.. Barun could bring forth.. and made us feel..as if everything else is nonexistent to him although physically present.. until this girl fell from heavens and disturbed that equilibrium... Will STOP

I can not tell you how frustrated I am right now. I have tried to cmment on your beautiful post 3x and it has disappeared! So freaking frustrating because i have to remember what I wrote! arggghh. Breathe, Cyn, breathe. Okay lets start again.

Your post was brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Thank you for writing and sharing this.

She wished she could stop breathing now that she is away from Ram since it is so painful to draw in each breath. Yet the lingering hope of the eyes catching a glimpse of him again keeps her going. And she refuses to close those eyes."

What beautiful scripture about the power of love...We all have this, (I pray), with our men...when they leave us on a business trip or such...it's hard to breathe, your inhalation not complete without his exhalation for you are one. They complete us, our souls are one. Yet we look for them to come home, oh yes, we survive without them, we are strong independent women but we look forward to their return to complete the other half of us. I know soundsmushy, but that is my defintion of soulmate...two become one. So when John leaves my heart keeps a watchful eye...

A lover transformed into a seer.

A dream, a fantasy all comes before her...she longs for him and sees him trusting and loving her returning her pride with a strand of pearls. But something feels wrong, she hasn't heard from him, she must speak with him, she wants his trust...is something wrong?

Khushi Kumari Gupta perhaps always had needed Arnav Singh Raizada to reach her true potential.
she been more alive at that moment under his unwavering unnerving stare... reminder of an inexplicable spark...one man before her. Gazing at her like no one had ever looked at her before. Her thoughts taking an unbidden direction. She could not control...the man who was making her feel like a woman. The most beautiful woman. She had felt a strange sense ...

of sensual-ness, a feeling that was virginal to her. His look of desire fractured the cacooned emotions making her transform from young girl to woman in an instant. Her true potential...

Tonight she unknowingly embraced it as she emerged a premika...his lover..his wife.. Her sole existence breathes of her love. It is just him. And no one else, nothing else matters but him.

👏👏👏 XO Cyn
