"Lunar calendars have a sixty year cycle and starts the new year on Yugadi i.e., on "Chaitra Sudhdha Paadyami". After the completion of sixty years, the calendar starts a new with the first year.

Yugadi (start of new year) is based on Bhaskara II[citation needed] lunar calculations in 12th century. It starts on the first new moon after Sun crosses equator from south to north on Spring Equinox."

I know Thai's and Cambodian's (Khmer) New Year are also in April so I did a little more digging. Credit goes to Wikipedia.
"The Songkran festival (Thai: ???????? (Pronunciation), Khmer: ??????????; from the Sanskrit word sa?kranti,[1] or literally "astrological passage") is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year's Day from 13 to 16 April. It coincides with the New Year of many calendars of South and Southeast Asia.
Songkran has traditionally been celebrated as the New Year for many centuries, and is believed to have been adapted from an Indian festival.
The most obvious celebration of Songkran is the throwing of water. Thais roam the streets with containers of water or water guns (sometimes mixed with mentholated talc), or post themselves at the side of roads with a garden hose and drench each other and passersby. This, however, was not always the main activity of this festival. Songkran was traditionally a time to visit and pay respects to elders, including family members, friends, neighbors, and monks. The songkran festival is counted as a new life.
Besides the throwing of water, people celebrating Songkran as a Buddhist festival may also go to a wat (Buddhist monastery) to pray and give food to monks.
The term Songkran comes from Sanskrit "Sankranta" and means "a move or change" ' in this case the move of the sun into Aries ' Mesha Sankranti.
Chola Dynasty ruled Thailand during Rajendra Chola I's reign 1012'1044 C.E. Hence this festival coincides with the Tamil New Year, Puthandu, which follows the Nirayanam vernal equinox and generally falls either on 13 or 14 April of the Gregorian year. 13 or 14 April marks the first day of the traditional Tamil calendar and is a public holiday in both Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. Tropical vernal equinox falls around 22 March and, adding 23 degrees of trepidation or oscillation to it, we get the Hindu sidereal or Nirayana Mesha Sankranti (Sun's transition into Nirayana Aries). Hence, Songkran falls on the same date as observed by most traditional calendars in India as in Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab and Tripura, not to mention Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Sri Lanka.
Songkran is also celebrated in Laos (called pee mai lao), Cambodia (called Chaul Chnam Thmey, Cambodian New Year), Myanmar (called Thingyan ????????), and by the Dai people in Yunnan, China (called Water-Splashing Festival). The same day is celebrated in South Asian calendars as well: the Assamese (called Rongali Bihu), Bengali (called Pohela Boishakh), Maithils (called Jood Sheetal), Oriya (called Maha Visuba Sankranthi), Malayali, Punjabi, Sinhalese, and Tamil New Years fall on the same dates, based on the astrological event of the sun beginning its northward journey. Songkran as such is similar to the Indian festival of Rangapanchami, Holi, with a lot of splashing of water as paints, colored dusts, and fragrances.
Songkran is also very uniquely similar to Jood Sheetal festival celebrated by Maithils in parts of Bihar and Nepal, also their new year, where water is poured on younger people's head, on plants, roads and everywhere possible. With putting water, one of the 5 constituents of life, on heads of youngers, elders bless them to be satisfied and never be longing for something unduly (Jiya Judal rahai in maithili). In Maithil villages, same age people pour water and mud on each other in celebration.

The traditional new year celebration in Sri Lanka also coincides with the Thai new year."

Isn't it amazing how different we are yet similar in some ways?! Since I'm Chinese/Cambodian/Thai, I would like to wish everyone HAPPY CAMBODIAN AND THAI NEW YEAR! 🥳
I remember my childhood growing up in Thailand during Songkran! It was really fun and amazing! April is the hottest time of the year so it was super refreshing to splash water with your friends in the heat! Also going to the Buddhist Festival was sheer joy with carnival games, concerts, yummy food, movies, Thai traditional dramatic performance and Chinese traditional drama.
BTW, Thai and Cambodian language are also influenced by Indian language particularly Sanskrit and Pali! Did you know that the word "rose" (Kularb or gulab) is the same in Cambodian, Thai and Hindi?! I've learned about it when I heard Khushi said the word! What the...that sounded familiar!! Isn't the University of IPK fabulous?!! 😆 👏

happy new year, all.

thanks, ladies, for all that fascinating info. on my trips to thailand and cambodia i've been gobsmacked by the indian/hindu influence in this region. and singapore of course gets its name from sanskrit. seam reap was vasuki, the snake, all over, the classic scene of the devas and demons churning the oceans tugging at the mighty snake (no, not at all like our disgusting one, but in a way he also was pulled and pushed and brought up terrible stuff then left when eternal love asserted itself, hah, our creepy vasuki). in bangkok, it's rama everywhere and the name of the old kingdom ayuthaya reminded me of ayodhya.

south and south east asia has a common strain running through its people, in looks, clothing, food, language, the peranakan chinese bibis remind me so of the bong matriarchs. was in myanmar or burma as i like to call it three years ago around this time. songkran and water festival preparations were on. there was excitement everywhere.

in indaiia we do the dunking into water and smearing with colour during holi, i don't think we have the water angle to our vaisakh celebrations. would be interesting to find out how that came about.

bengali new year on 15 april i think this year. of course, bangla desh celebrates it on 14 april every year. the bengali calendar has an interesting story and brings in the moghul influence in our world. it owes its origins to emperor akbar, an interesting ruler with big dreams and hatke thinking if i am to trust the info i pick up here and there.

gulab. 😆. we all say it our way. in bangla, it's "golaap." apparently, the word comes to us from the pashtun language. we keep yelling about being different and miss the plot all the time.

Not everything is perfect, especially in the beginning. And it's all right to have a little bit of regret every once in a while. It's when you feel it all the time and can't do anything about it... that's when you get into trouble .We all do things we desperately wish we could undo. Those regrets just become part of who we are, along with everything else. To spend time trying to change that, well, it's like chasing clouds .That's what is happening the most in this epi...as written Fate is playing a big role here." - Very True...but we do wish to change it don't we!!!

"King has some regretful moves with his Queen and wants to undo but have no clue how.The very same feelings our Queen has as her silly games are making her desperately wish for undo things which are sweeping her to do Jungle mein Mangal.Crazy stuff..." - she was really adorable nd cute with her craziness 😃

"What's done is done" as Shakespeare said and everyone has to move on"

"Nainital is a combination of nain..meaning "eye" and Tal..meaning"lake" water as Nanital is full of lakes and there are myths linked with it as one of them is Sati"Paravati" fell on earth while being carried by Lord Shiv and where she fell that point is called Nain-Tal meaning Lake of the eye.- thanks for this piece of info👍🏼...nvr knew abt it

"

Connection: Arnav is Lake and Khushi is his eye.Arnav and his life needs direction and some sort of peace and it will come from Khushi and she will be proved as his eye." - Wonderful Connection 👏

SCENE 2-Naniji and La[Bishop and pawn]

"La gets mote upset knowing Khushi is with ASR but it does not bother her that much..hmmm interesting...She does not know the difference between tap water and Ganga jal but she surely knows Khushi is a good girl.

" she asks how did Naniji accepted her as DIL when she has no clue of cooking, sewing or anything...Poor girl does not know that is the regret Naniji has which she is rectifying now by teaching you all or get some Bahu who knows it...🤣 too good

- Really Loved Babuji's Trust here 😃

SCENE 4- Arnav and Khushi[KING AND QUEEN]👏

"Arnav is on his way to Nainital with his high charged brain[hey! finally he accepted La is "Bewaqoof"😆] while Khushi is in his Dickey with her non charged brain in the dark comes to light after finding out where exactly she is.

#5 represents a perfect man [acc to Christian beliefs represents a jump from east to west meaning changing in behaviors good or bad. Arnav's behavior will be worthwatching during this trip

-👍🏼

"

He hears a voice among all the noise and Then "Unbelievable" in the middle of their angry union BG music...here she is...What the"...His astonishment and acrimony has no end...and so her innocence and livelihood 😆" -the entire scene was really good to watch 😊

"

Love her when she says,'Aap na ziyada What the what the mat kijiye hum aap ko batate hain keh kya huwa"Loved his concern mixed with anger when she hits her head. She explained him how her Dupatta got stuck in his car and how she got fainted and all." - on the Bold Part ...same here 😊

"Her Dupatta meaning her respect got stuck in his car meaning connected to him and her fainting meaning unintentionally taking her away from reality[ Love, feelings for him start in her].

"Arnav with worrisome and concerned ,"Jaldi gadi main baitho"..seriously the man was totally possessively perturbed and perplexed about her at this point. She looked at him befuddled ,"aap humain choraingey"Arnav antagonistically,"Aur nahin tou kya tumhain beech sadak chor keh..." - Well Written 👍🏼

"he couldn't finish his sentence and reverberation of the night brings new layer of regret on his face.Today he wants to close that loop by taking her with respect in his car.He can't leave her there in this broad day light in this hustle bustle regardless .She is baffled and bewildered all about this too.Love the way he opened the door today for this silly girl and waited for her.😳 me too...i loved how he opened the door...whn she went to open the dicki 😆

- 👏

nice expressions

"He remembered the night when she poured out all her heartfelt tears along with him.He slows down with deep concerns...and what is this on her face ,an acknowledgement of his gratitude and a soft relieved satisfaction that he does care.😊 wasn't tht sweet of him...

"Her distress and fears make him frantic and disarray it did not go unnoticed by her either. Her eyes passed the gratitude to him too which he received that without looking at her. -Very well written 👏

"Khushi's silliness is making life more romantic😳 here as LG is ready to push the car towards the gas station. She surely can push it because of her extra tonic Jalaibis.Love her over here.Sanaya as Khushi is marvelous in today's epi, just too good.⭐️ - Couldn agree more

"One thing is so evident she can take orders from her LG without fidgeting and at he top she is worried too much about her LG's health as he was fainted today - She cares so much 😊

" he tries to make her nervous in return with his close proximity by taking off and putting his jacket right next to her and yes of course throwing close daggers on her and the way he folded his sleeves up like I am no weak...was too cute.👏-Well said... i personally loved tht moment...i wish it as better shot...but their closeness was amazing..even though it was for tiny second 😳

👍🏼 very nice

"Khushi with extra sugar is ready to push her LG car while he couldn't do without sugar...love the way he was looking at her. "Gaadi chalane ki zaroorat nahi, kyu ki gaadi hil nahi rahi hai"😆 - Amazin Lines here

Just Yummilicious...Today it looks pure hubby and wifey nok jhonk on the way of crisis...by putting up with each other.😉 - i agree 😃

- too good 👏

"

Arnav's irritation is worthwatching while he is on the phone with Aman and she thinks he is addressing her..Khushi,"wo tum se ya hum tum se"🤣....Arnav,"khushi Kumari Gupta se" ...[laughing way too much]Love both of these two super duper actors.....👏👏👏

"Love his way of caresing her strands of hair and her Dhak Dhak and level of trust and comfort at this close proximity ,none of them stopped. He did it as this is his right and she lets him do it as he has right on her...hmmm interesting 😳

"Caressing her hair is the most beautiful thing ever in IPK as Arnav does not leave any chance from Guest house to on ward at many occasions to do so and this one move of him shows his love and care I adore the most.I just love it. " -well said...nd good notice 👏..its a Arshi thing 😉

"Khushi,"uss LG ko tou apni parwah hai nahin par humain tou hai na"Bingo! Temptalicious is tempting towards her LG in a serious tone...and Yes madam there is no other way but Nainital way...- very cute 😊

"She follows him like a shadow in the jungle...and one day they both will be shadow of each other.Love the way she pops out of the tree and pours out her innocence in this wilderness.😆 true

"Khushi is a chatterbox and he wants silence but its impossible for KKG to do so as later in Ma's garden she tells him"Jab hum chup rehtain hain tou humain aisa lagta hai jaise puri Duniya Khatam ho gayei hai"Today he wants her to be quiet and later he accustoms to her blabbering. - i don even remember tht scene...it was complete Body doubles...pathetic...such a an important scene was spoilt...hate it...thanks for tellin though

"Khushi,"ure rukiye naa" what a wifey way of asking LG to have mangoes.[mangoes sexual desires "] Arnav,"chup'bilkul chup....as he is tired of all of her talking...He threatens her to cut her half salary if she will not be quiet for 5 minutes to make her quiet but then he is standing in front of his regret why did he do that[why do I have this feeling he was missing her talking] because her presence her talking was not behind him..."Khushi This is not funny" He threatens her, begs her, orders her, looks for her madly ,screams for her, but Khushi is no where to be found...

You hav captured every minute of Arshi wonderful words nd Edits...⭐️👏 really awesome analysis

❤️Thnx Supi for liking it and above all laughing at some point as I couldn't stop laughing at all in this epi Sanaya and even Arnav at some scenes were too much to handle .Too cute and too funny.😆

@BD, I immensely admire his acting abilities and can't get over the inexplicable beauty of his face 😆. Its just my personal preference for serious, brooding guys as opposed to the playful ones. I guess Sanaya's off screen personality matches with her on screen lively one so didn't make much difference. But as we know BS and ASR are worlds apart and I could associate that face only with one personality and didn't want to come out of it.. I know a bit OCD.. can't help! So refrained from watching it.
I saw that reporter interview you mentioned only this Jan after the show ended and now know where Barun's Mahabharata connection came from. But there were times, when I just could n't take the on screen intensity, like after the Nov 20th ME where he comes to know about her engagement, and could n't see both ASR and Khushi immensely hurt and so much tension between them, then I had to watch that offscreen segment to make sure that they are both fine, no tension as such between ASR ans Kh and I was only watching a fictional show.. it was the segment where Sanaya made him do sit ups.

@Sohara and @Horizon...i have to respectfully disagree that we are in rehab, atleast in my case i'm only add fuel to this obsession, but being here with you all lets me know i'm not alone, then i don't feel so bad about the best guilty pleasure in the world!😆 more of a paagakhana than a rehab center 🤣
@ BarunDiwani, hmm...Pagalkhana is much more serious/dangerous than a Rehab center. I thought we needed only some behavioral therapy, like sharing all the ifs and buts of our show, to get back to normalcy.
But what ever we may call it, luny bin, mental asylum, rehab.. we all certainly belonged to the same category and as you rightly said it was pleasure to know that one is not alone in making these guilt rides!!:)

hello, all,

now that i have no idea who said what to whom, let me assure you, i am not in paagalkhana, rehab, loony bin. i am in meditation.

this is my tapovan or whatever it is that you go to, to seek higher knowledge and the raising of the spirit. spirit reminds me, cognac is supposed to be good for you, especially cognac brown eyes. and for this past one week i have been prevented from seeking the blessing of these thanks to my unkind asli duniya. however, this weekend, i have promised to keep myself from all temptation of baser things like reality and responsibility and surrender my inner being to the calling of angry eyes that melt and flow into love via remorse. meditation, samjhe aap log?
Aap ne itna accha samjha diya tho, how can we escape "samjhing" Indiji.. so sure I/ we did!!😆
But you see, you are already meditating and are much more in proximity to Nirvana which seems miles away for now at least for me. I am still in that denial phase about a pesky petite being and a pair of brooding brown eyes...and what better way to get over hurt than to talk it over! So, I sure am in Rehab.. and thanks to all of you for this "small world", the only place where I can go through this in this big wide world!
And, eagerly look forward to hogging your time this weekend..😆

Here's a little info on the Hindu new year. Yesterday was a New Year for the following people.
Telugu and Kannada people - Ugadi
Maharashtrians - Gudi Padava
Sindhis - Cheti Chand
I believe some others also celebrate on this day, but I'm not sure who.
This Sunday, 14th April, the following would be celebrating their New Year
Tamilians - Tamil New Year
Malayalees - Vishu
Punjabis - Baisakhi or Vaisakhi
Asssamese - Bohag Bihu
Again, this list is not exclusive.
As Chalhov said, each year is given a name and there are totally 60 year names. The names are repeated every 60 years. Why, only 60? No idea. But, there's definitely a reason behind that, have to do some research on that. Any experts here with deep knowledge reg. this?

I wanted to answer this to BD yday, but thought inappropriate to but in for Chalhov.:)
Anyway, my little knowledge, for all those who follow lunar calendar, not just Telugu, but many Indian calendars have 60 year repeat cycles. Significantly Chinese calendar repeats every 60 yrs,(just like Telugu, they have specific names too for each year too) as we know they follow lunar calendar. The 60 yr cycles are the last part in the hierarchy of Yugas.. like we are in Kali Yuga. which is probably undergoing (I don't know which one ) "nth" repeat of the 60 yr cycle. Perhaps some of these astrologers (panchanga info people) should have that info.
It is interesting as most of our beliefs, even the concept of five elements, relates to Chinese Yin Yang. Its all basically an "Asian" belief rather than a Telugu/ Indian! The old world essentially had only two parts the Mediterranean (Greek/ Egypt) and Asian probably with two belief systems. I can digress to eternity.. but see that makes more sense as the Western world industrially progressed much rapidly than us as we had much more baggage (history) to carry on as opposed to their mere 2/3 century history!!:)

😆 so interesting so they name the New years every year? cool, see learns something new in our school of IPK!

Ami thnks for the wishes there are 60 names which keep repeating in the same order once the 60 names cycle is complete

sri vijayanaama savastra subhakashalu to you chalhov,

thanks so much for all that info. sixty names, i wonder why 60 only? and in the south 60 is considered quite important, isn't it? shashtipoorthy celebrates 60 too. something there. also the way we measure time still has 60 as significant, as does the whole system of measuring angles. interesting.

hope you have a great year. 😃
One reason I know is becos Mahabharata was chronologically divided into 60 important events, since Kalyuga was immediately preceded by Dwapara (yug of Mahabharata) and started around 4000BC, the 60 yrs cycles of Kal yuga are followed ever since.
One more thing I heard was according to Vedas, man's life span is 120 yrs and at half way mark, to celebrate the successful completion of one cycle, as one will be the same yr of tone's birth when one reaches 60, hence celebration of Shashtipoorthi.
PS: Most of this is my old telugu mythological movie knowledge.. thanks to NTR!! :)

@Indi
thanks for your precious comments on my 92.
yup feeding each other definitely is very intimate.
I also agree, It was so disgusting when Khushi fed Shyam kheer. I remember we sent a petition that no matter what the cvs can't show Shyam touches or manhandles Khushi during the kidnapping track. But the CVs cheated us by showing that nasty scene.
