Madhuri was Sridevi's replacement in many films.

Makers first went to Sridevi and when she refused to take any role then Madhuri and Juhi came into the project.

Yash Chopra's Darr was written for Sridevi but when she refused then it went to Aishwarya Rai but she was busy with Miss World then it went to Juhi Chawla.

Indra Kumar's Beta was Sridevi's film but she felt it was Anil & Aruna Irani's story, so she refused the role and then it went to Madhuri Dixit.

Same with Dil To Pagal Hai.

Sridevi refused it and then it went to Madhuri.

Madhuri as an actress never was great but her plus point was her dancing skill but she aged very quickly post 30.

If you see Dil To Pagal Hai you may think Madhuri was in late 30 but she was only 30 at that time. She looked so aged and mature for her age.

Infact apart from Anil Kapoor & Sanjay Dutt, also Jackie Shroff she never looked good with any other hero.

In Hum Apke Hai Kaun... she looked like Salman's elder sister. So mature looking.

In Dil, she looked like Aamir's elder sister

In Dil To Pagal Hai, she looked older than Shahrukh.

Her best chemistry was with Anil Kapoor. I think Anil also never looked that good with any other actress. Not even Sridevi looked good with Anil Kapoor that much.

Madhuri had better chemistry with Jackie Shroff in Devdas than SRK in the film.

Madhuri's time was over back in 1995 when she did her last solo hit Raja.

After that film she did some other films but every other film there was another actress who stole the show from her.

Madhuri was generally a decent actress with great dancing skill.

She never got opportunity to show her acting potentials. Its all about her dance.

Some actresses did some offbeat films like Sridevi did Sadma, English Vinglish, Aishwarya did Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Provoked, Sarbjit etc. but Madhuri Dixit never got the chance to show her acting potential. Its all about her dance & only dance.

What the TM is trying to say is that Madhuri Dixit is not a real actress, but she is an android. India has always been such a great, advanced, and progressive nation that we had AI even before it was invented. Soon, the honorable Prime Minister will reveal India's great advancements in AI-based filmmaking to the world.

---

Madhuri had more than just dancing ability. She had genuine charisma and charm. There are many movies where she makes an impact with a smile, a wink, or just an expression through her eyes. There genuinely was a Madhuri mania where everyone was gaga over her.

That being said, she was always a very one-note actress. Her forte was romance. She created great chemistry with everyone she was paired with, and people loved the pairs. She could do a little drama or some comedy here or there. But for the most part, on her own, without a leading man to banter with, she fell flat.

Most female actors who made a successful comeback have wider ranges. They can easily play several different characters. My two favorite thriving older actors are Dimple and Tabu. I love how they both can switch between swearing like a sailor and being coy and naive. Sridevi also carried English Vinglish fantastically, and it's a shame we can't see what she could have done in her golden years.

I think Madhuri could succeed if someone wrote a sweeping romance about older adults falling in love.

women have an early expiry date anyway at least physically which is their biggest appeal, which is why young nubile virgins are preferred, so it don't matter both are baasi anyway

I've said this before she's a natural in comedies, she should do more comedy although she was also good (not great but good) in that KJo streaming show

I think Madhuri plays different characters quite convincingly, her forte is not only romance, I loved her performance in Lajja movie as well, if you have seen it. There she plays an artist in a theatre, who is impregnated by her boyfriend and then dumped, she is shown to be a bold, courageous woman who was treated extremely harshly by the society and she has delivered some powerful scenes in that film. She was extremely good in movies like Devdas as a courtesan and in Anjaam as a widow who is blood thirsty for revenge. Her screen presence was also immensely good.

Would her performance be even better if somebody else dubbed for her? It's not like her voice or dialogue delivery is bad or anything but I feel it sounds the same in all movies.

Don't know how to explain this. It's like a great singer releasing one great album but every album after that sounds the exact same
