as for her doing these reality dance shows on tv...tht too needs qualifications😆...i hope they don't put kareena as a judge for a dance show one day, or kat as a judge for actor ...

🤣

ohhh damn...they don't even have skills to sit on reality shows...
but then...what the hell is motto sajid doing on tv...

Wt...

Raja and Kahaani...

Ok I am outta here. 😆

^am talking about hits.
.raja was an average movie with a brand new face. but it became a big hit. madhuri was nominated for best actress, but kajol took for ddlj.
kahaani also didn't have any know face beside vidya. the movie - be it the script, the suspense, the performance...all top. and it became a big hit.

i am not comparing the movies - in quality sense, i am comparing vidya and madhuri delivering at boxoffice on their own.

Hmm...Good question LP.
For me, Madhuri is more a STAR than an ACTRESS while Sridevi is more an ACTRESS AND A STAR. Madhuri is absolutely gorgeous, tremendous dancer she had brilliant gems of movies, but I cannot call her a consistent actress perhaps for both the quality and types of films she made.
She did have some absolute gems like Anjaam, but it was more an SRK film than Madhuri.

What I mean is, she is more like Tom Cruise. He is this mega star with these hugely successful movies that are not really great, but if you really want to see him act you have to go to the small films like Born on the 4th of July or Jerry Maguire. Does not mean he cannot act, but he will be known for other things first than for acting and mostly for being a STAR.

and also she is/was a very limited actress, so why the heck is she always hailed as the best actress of BW by some usual suspects 😕 she was a great dancer/item girl and had screen presence but that's about it! nothing to write home about

don't know about others, i never hailed as teh best actress or a great actress. i always said, sri was a better actor, but madhuri the bigger star. but thats my opinion. she used her dancing skills, her typical bollywood actress acting skills, her screen presence...and became the biggest star ever.

Thanks MeriBaat. 🤗 I have always wondered about Madhuri's filmography. She has done all genres with ease.

Ok that I agree. She was the only star of Raja. But we cant compare with Kahaani in the sense that there were no item songs or the heroine looking hot.

But speaking of Box office, she has very few hits. About 15 out of 70.

^don't know about how many hits...how many bb, atbb...whatever..but this much i know...i don't have to run to check the box office hit list when it comes to madduri.
even with a small hit...she is still considered the biggest ever. THE STAR.

😆did you see how todays heroines were struggling when questioned how long your dear one has ruled. .no thinking required..hema, sri and mads... the rest...ok, my gal has ruled for 6 monhts, ok wait,,,add another month, my gal...2yrs...ohhh wait...i think 1yr and 3 months...😆

and r hey...kahaani is a superior product...no doubt about that...i was just comparing a movie riding on heroines shoulder and the heroine delivers.

I don't know, stardom and box office are directly proportional, unless the film is really bad.

She has very few hits and very very few where she got the credit.

The intriguing fact about Madhuri is that she concentrated on masala films yet could not deliver. I would have viewed her differently if she did some arty or realistic movies. For example I would never judge a Tabu by her box office. She did lots of bad movies and flop movies, but she delivers good performances most of the time, you can always count on her.

I can never say the same for Madhuri. She neither delivers a great performance nor she ensures box office success.

Biggest film star? Not even the biggest female star. Hema, Rekha, Sridevi, Aish, way more superior in terms of popularity. But I respect your opinion.

Madhuri is an icon and no question about it. But acting was never her strength. It was dance that she was best at and she did do great in her prime.

Neither underrated not overrated. Aptly rated.

One hardly talks about her movies.
