All the top directors of the time signed Bobby after his stupendous start, from Indra Kumar to David Dhawan to Vidhu Vinod Chopra to Rajiv Rai. Unfortunately for Bobby, other than Rajiv Rai they all made their worst films with him. Aashiq, Chor Machaye Shor, Kareeb and that gives you an unfair Rep. Similar to Ranveer Singh whose going through the same thing with Aditya Chopra, Rohit Shetty & Kabir Khan.

He was also a terrible actor until recently.

I liked him best in Humraaz. Stellar script helped him and also one of the movies he was looking his best.

I haven't seen his debut film Barsaat, but in the Barsaat with PC and Bipasha, his character was very unlikable and unsympathetic so it was hard to root for him.

Not only Bobby, Aftab Shivdasani and Akshay Khanna are highly underrated. They both excelled in Hungama movie.

Such a panuti movie

It wasn't just that. He didn't know how to react to the paps who made him out to be some type of Casanova. That really sunk his image. Ab har koi Ranbir ki taran uss galat image ko embrace thodi naa kar sakta hai.

Akshay Khanna especially yaar! The man can literally gel into any role and make it so realistic. I mean just look at the recent teaser of Chhaava. That man is basically the living and breathing version of Aurangzeb in just the teaser!

Aftab is also a good actor, but I don't think he's underrated. He had a good slew of films and then he went down the overacting route with all the double meaning films. It would be nice to see him again (seeing him in Special Ops was a treat) but only in well-written roles. None of the overacting stuff.

Agree....Bobby was quite a simpleton like Sunny...

I heard he had hard time networking with capable people during his downtimes

Yes I think he spoke about that on KWK. It's like the only epi of KWK I've ever watched after season 1. It was a nice change from his usual gossiping sessions.
