I don't remember all the details of the movie.. but I don't think they ever showed Zoya distressed by Kundan's stalking.. she led him on, and used him as per her convenience.. Kundan was one of those typical roadside Romeos.. both were wrong and both had to face the consequences

I particularly liked that despite his attempt at redemption, Kundan still didn't get what he want. So that was a plus for me

From which angle did they glorify stalking - Kundan died in the end! Both he and Zoya suffered the consequences of their grave mistakes - honestly Zoya was as grey (if not more) than Kundan - she was the master manipulator and as much responsible for Abhay's character's death as Kundan.

Also she kept manipulating Kundan by leading him on in many ways. This wasnt a bechari ladki who was being harassed and stalked - she enjoyed the stalking - she liked making the men in her life dance to her tunes - she kissed Kundan etc etc.

Kundan ofcourse was a personification of gunda gardi done by small town men and there was not a moment where the movie glorifies him - honestly even his accidental entry into politics was quite well done.

It was a fine movie addressing very complex human emotions. Abhay is just a grumpy cynical man - sad because he was excellent in this movie.

I agree that Zoya sent mixed messages after she meets Kundan again. But she still makes it clear that she considered their past affair just to be a childish infatuation. But she failed to recognize or chose to ignorethe fact that for Kundan it was some grand love story still going on in the present. Nevermind what that the girl says. He has his blinkers on and ignores all evidence to the contrary. His friends warn him. But he's still delusional. Not only does he cause her boy friend's death, he still pursues her. She can't escape...he's always around...insinuating himself into her friend circle, her political activities ...everywhere. He's a deluded stalker and the film should have shown it more clearly. Instead of giving him a glorified death. Giving a glorified death scene with dramatic death speech takes away from the message that this individual is wrong or flawed. Ditto with Devdas...that alcoholic megalomaniac who ruined the lives of two perfectly sensible women.

But he does agree to what the girl says.. He does decide to move on when he finds that Zoya was in love with someone from her own community.. It is when he finds out that Zoya lied to him that he goes cuckoo..

He inserted himself in her life later for her forgiveness.. To do the right thing and atone for his sin of being the reason for her boyfriend's death

And lastly, he was unintentionally the reason for her boyfriend's death but she was intentionally the reason for his death..

And it seems like history and majority of the audience will continue simplifying this film when there is so much in it to talk about beyond surface level reading. 🤔

At the cost of sounding extremely pseudo, I would say there are very few people who GET the movie.

I wont go on a rant here because most ppl here seem to hate the movie and cant look past the stalking. But if anyone loves this film, feel free to inbox me, I am always up for a good discussion on it.😊

Yes Zoya lied and used him and that's wrong. But she told him that she's in love with another man. He should have respected her wishes. Instead he wanted to teach her a lesson. He acted like the immature lout that he is.

After the funeral Sonam told him via Abhay's sister that he should leave. She hated him so much that she didn't even want to see his face. If he really wanted to make amends he'd have listened to her and never approached her again. But no once more her wishes didn't matter. HIS wishes to make amends, HIS way of doing that was all that mattered.
