Yesterday only I watched Golmaal. He was absolutely cute in that kurta -pajama and making puppy face. The movie was already my favorite ( watched remake). Should watch other movies.

Amol Palekar: A Performer In Simplicity

Posted By: Mudit Handaon: November 24, 2016In: Blog

When you closely look to the world, you see the evolution of art in every object. This is the kind of approach Amol Palekar has towards art.

An actor known for his brilliant finesse of natural acting, Amol Palekar was born on 24thNovember, 1944 in Mumbai.

Debuting his acting-career in Marathi cinema with Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe(1971), Palekar had an image of the boy next-door'. In 1972 he commenced his own theater-troupe Aniket. Palekar debuted in Bollywood with Rajnigandha (1974).

Given below are some of the exceptional films he did.

  • Rajnigandha (1974)

Directed by Basu Chatterjee, this film deals with love-story of a careless fellow, played by Palekar and his collegemate Deepa, played by Vidya Sinha.

  • Chhoti Si Baat (1975)

Again, a Basu Chatterjee film, is a light-hearted comedy involving a shy person (Amol) who wants to marry Prabha (Vidya Sinha). Thus, he gets advice from a personal-trainer (Ashok Kumar).

  • Chitchor (1976)

Made by Rajshri Productions, Chitchor tells story of a boy and a girl who are supposed to be married. They undergo some misconceptions, but in the end they are finally married to each other.

  • Agar...If (1977)

A suspense-thriller movie involving a businessman (Amol) who misunderstands his wife.

  • Gharonda (1977)

This film is about desperate struggle of a middle-class couple to find a house in a busy metro-city.

  • Baton Baton Mein (1978)

This is a romantic comedy film by Basu Chatterjee.

  • Golmaal (1979)

A comedy-film by Hrishikesh Mukherjee involving impersonation of Ramprasad (Amol) to gain the trust of his employer.

  • Apne Paraye (1980)

A Basu Chatterjee film dealing with family-relationships.

  • Chehre Pe Chehra (1981)

A film based on R.L. Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, in which Palekar plays a lab-assistant.
