Adhya was an adopted child. That in itself comes with a LOT of insecurities, fear of abandonment. She faced abuse and neglect immediately after entering their life (which was, but a Trophy child for Anupama). Infact her own parents did not know that she was suffering panic attacks and it was Barkha who noticed and notified her parents but even then, her adoptive mother prioritised a child who had an army of people to look after amd neither parents to give her the assurances and peace she needed.
The child was constantly exposed to drama, fights, scheming so much so, that her father was forced to send her off to a "summer camp" during New Years where her adoptive mother never bothered to call and neither adoptive parents knew that she had fallen sick. The adoptive mother let her be manipulated and did not bother correcting the perception she was fed with that she is the reason for fights between her adoptive parents.
She found and lost her birth mother in trying to save her adoptive mother leaving her like a lost soul. The adoptive mother continued to ignore and neglect her trophy daughter while she was subject to constant abuse and manipulation and made to feel that she would be "discarded" from her adoptive parents' life and BOTH PARENTS NEVER BOTHERED TO PROTECT HER OR assure her leading to constant insecurities.
A series of incidents occur culminating with the dreadful accident where she was left alone in a locked car, she saw her fears coming true. Although she was saved by GOD'S grace, the fear lingered. This was followed by the mother ABANDONING her without backward glance or assuring her leading to a deep etched trauma, so much so, that they are forced to leave the country.
She undergoes treatment for the trauma and with the unconditional love and care from Shruti she blooms into a happy athlete. Then she comes face-to-face with the source of her trauma and despite her pleas, she is FORCED to interact, associate with the family that abused her and live with the woman who is the reason for her distress. Despite ALL this, she shows immense bravery and presence of mind to save herself and Pari (who she feels was more favoured) only to witness, the only mother she had ever known, Shruti being shot and on the verge of losing her making her traumatised and suicidal.
She sees her father and his ex-wife betraying Shruti, the only mother she had and when she confronts them, she is recounted of the favours done on her followed by being subject to constant harsh and rude behaviour every time she tries to remind her father of his commitment, so much so, that she now understand that neither promises made to her by her father hokd any importance in his life nor what she thinks, says, feels matter to him.
The only symptoms we see is her rudeness and raised voices, which is perhaps, the least degree that one would display.
Having gone through so much at such a young age, must say, she is holding up pretty well, even so called parents and fully grown adults on the show haven't.
