Nagarjuna on Rs 100-crore lawsuit on Surekha Konda after no apology; says, 'What about my family'

The Telugu industry was up in arms against Telangana Minister Surekha Konda who dragged in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rakul Preet Singh and Naga Chaitanya in her political war on KT Rama Rao. She was universally panned for saying that the politician indulged in phone tapping of actresses. She said that he knew all their secrets and would blackmail them. Surekha Konda blamed him for the separation of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. She said the whole Akkineni clan knew he was somewhere responsible for the same. 

Nagarjuna told Times Now that they have filed a criminal defamation case. He said they are going to file a defamation lawsuit of Rs 100 crores against her. Nagarjuna said they could not let such outrageous comments go unchecked. He was quoted as saying, “She now says she is withdrawing her remarks. She has apparently apologised to Samantha. What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and to my family!”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu also put up a long post, which said that love, marriage and divorce when you are a celebrity is difficult in itself. She said that she has been apolitical all her life, and would continue to be so. Samantha Ruth Prabhu said there was no political conspiracy behind her divorce. 

A number of top film stars have called out the minister. They said actors had enough. He told the channel that this was no longer just a personal matter. Nagarjuna was quoted as saying, “The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family. The support we’ve received from the biggest to the smallest of names in the Telugu industry has made me realise we are in the process of stemming the rot that has seeped into the core of our system.” 

Nagarjuna said politicians need to be sternly told that actors names can’t be used casually for political wars. The fraternity refuses to be a soft target. He was quoted as saying, “I am hoping that our legal action against the lady will caution other politicians from using our names in a slanderous way.”

On the professional front, Nagarjuna will be seen as Simon in Coolie, the Lokesh Kanagaraj movie with Rajinikanth. Naga Chaitanya has Thandel lined up while Samantha Ruth Prabhu has Citadel Honey Bunny coming up.
