Coolie: Nagarjuna joins Rajinikanth, Lokesh Kanagaraj movie; check out official poster as Simon on his b'day

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj are teaming up for the first time for Coolie. Today, on the occasion of Nagarjuna’s birthday, Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed that the Telugu superstar is going to be a part of the film. He is playing the role of Simon. He has unveiled the poster where we can see Nagarjuna sitting on a chair with full swag. Wayfarer glasses, a gold watch and red handkerchief add to his street-style macho look. Fans of the superstar are loving this powerful look as Simon. There were reports of Lokesh Kanagaraj bringing him on board in a very important role. 

The filmmaker also welcomed Soubin Shahir to Coolie. He is an actor and director who works in Malayalam cinema. Kannada superstar Upendra is the main villain of Coolie. With the entry of Nagarjuna, Lokesh Kanagaraj has got all the four South Indian film industries together under one roof. Soubin Shahir is playing Dayal in the movie. He shared a pic with Rajinikanth where the veteran is holding his kid. Coolie is an action movie with a mafia backdrop. The third schedule of Coolie happened in Vishakhapatnam with Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan. They shot for 40 days in the lovely beachside town. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj welcomes Nagarjuna

It was reported that Nagarjuna was not keen to play a villain in the movie. He is still seen as a leading man in Telugu movies. He was worried that a dark role might change his image. It seems that news was unfounded. There is buzz that even Aamir Khan might do a cameo in Coolie. Lokes Kanagaraj and Aamir Khan are in talks to do a movie. He might do a standalone film with him, or have him do a role in Coolie. It will be a first for Thalaivar and Aamir Khan. 

Last year, Rajinikanth’s Jailer was a huge success. It made Rs 600 crores globally. He also has Vettaiyan lined up in 2024. That movie also stars Fahadh Faasil and Amitabh Bachchan. It is about the police, judiciary and entrepreneurship. T Gnanavel the maker of Jai Bhim is directing that film.
