Rajinikanth's Coolie: Shruti Haasan joins as Preethi, first look revealed

The makers of the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie are pulling out all the stops to ramp up excitement for the film. The film’s director, Lokesh Kanagaraj, has been busy making a series of announcements, leaving fans in a frenzy. Recently, on Friday, he shared an official character poster of Preethi, adding to the anticipation. The poster features Shruti Haasan, who will be joining the star-studded cast of Coolie. In the poster, Shruti Haasan is seen with a serious expression, holding a shovel. She is dressed in a simple suit, her hair styled in a half-tied manner with a middle parting, and a bindi on her forehead.

Lokesh Kanagaraj took to social media platform X to express his excitement about Shruti Haasan joining the cast. He wrote, “Kicked to have Shruti Haasan joining the cast of Coolie as Preethi. Welcome on board.” This collaboration marks Shruti Haasan's first with Rajinikanth, making her equally thrilled to be part of the project. She expressed her enthusiasm by replying, “Thank you, Lokesh! Super stoked to be a part of this.” Fans, too, were quick to show their love and excitement, flooding the post with positive comments.

Coolie promises to be a big-budget extravaganza, featuring many prominent faces from the industry. Alongside Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan, the film will also star Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Mahendran, among others. On Nagarjuna’s 69th birthday, Lokesh Kanagaraj released a poster of his character, Simon, with the caption, “Kicked to have King Nagarjuna Sir joining the cast of Coolie as Simon. Welcome on board and wishing you a very happy birthday Sir.”

There are also rumors that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan might make a cameo appearance in the film. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding his involvement. The release date of the film is still under wraps, with shooting having commenced in July this year.

Speculations were rife that Coolie might be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), similar to Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. However, Lokesh Kanagaraj has clarified that Coolie is a stand-alone film, separate from his cinematic universe.
