Abhishek Bachchan trolls Pakistan team after being mistaken for Abhishek Sharma

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan recently had the internet laughing after former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar mistakenly mentioned him instead of Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma during a television discussion. The mix-up occurred while analysing Pakistan’s chances in the Asia Cup final.

On the cricket talk show Game On Hai, Shoaib said, “If Pakistan get Abhishek Bachchan out early on in a hypothetical situation, then what is going to happen with the middle-order? Their middle-order hasn’t performed well."

The panel quickly clarified that he had meant Abhishek Sharma, the young Indian opener who has impressed with back-to-back half-centuries. The humorous blunder instantly went viral, prompting laughter from the host and other guests. Clips of the moment circulated widely on social media.

Abhishek took to X (formerly Twitter) with characteristic humour, sharing the clip and writing: “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket."

Fans joined in the fun. One joked, “They’ve been Ghoomerized." Another wrote, “Every Abhishek can be a Sharma but not every Abhishek can be a Bachchan. Glad aapko Abhishek Bachchan yaad aaye @juniorbachchan, unka aura hi aisa hai." Another added, “No cricket skills needed when your wit’s already hitting sixes AB."

The final is scheduled for 28 September in Dubai. India enters as the tournament favourite, remaining unbeaten so far.
