Did Nagarjuna rejects the villain's role in Rajinikanth, Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie?

Fans of Rajinikanth are keenly awaiting Coolie, his movie with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The filmmaker has roped in Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Mahendran in main roles for the vendetta action movie. The hunt is still on for a villain. As per rumours in the Telugu film industry, the makers of Coolie had approached Nagarjuna Akkineni to play the villain in Coolie. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial will release in 2025. Rajinikanth plays a man who unleashes his anger on a gold smuggling racket. The title reveal got favourable response from fans. 

In the past, Lokesh Kanagaraj has cast popular actors as baddies in his movies. Sanjay Dutt from Bollywood, and Kannada superstar Arjun Sarja were a part of Leo (2023). Vijay Sethupathi was the main villain of Master. But it seems Nagarjuna declined the offer to play a towering baddie in Coolie. Though he is in his 50s, Nagarjuna keeps on getting hero roles in Telugu films. It seems he does not want roles that are away from the hero category. But there is no official confirmation on this. 

Nagarjuna will be seen in Kubera, which is a movie by Sekhar Kammula. Dhanush plays the main role in the movie along with Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna and Jim Sarbh. He also has a film with his Naa Sami Ranga director Vijay Binni. 

The title of Thalaivar171 as Coolie was done some days back. Lokesh Kanagaraj has become one of the most sought-after Tamil makers after movies like Leo and Vikram. He is known for his mass yet classy presentation of all top stars as we saw in Vikram with Kamal Haasan.
