Surekha Konda apologizes to Samantha Ruth Prabhu after being called out by top Telugu stars

Surekha Konda, who is a politician in the Telangana Government went viral for her comments on the divorce of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. She said that Bharat Rashta Samiti Chief KT Rama Rao had blackmailed actresses by taping their phones. Konda said there was political conspiracy behind the separation of #ChaySam. Her comments were universally panned by top Telugu actors. They said it was demeaning to drag in the private lives of film stars to settle personal scores. After facing immense backlash from the Akkineni family, Nani, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun and others, Surekha Konda has apologized to fans of Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She also said she did not directly refer to the divorce but wanted to talk about how women are belittled in general. 

The lady had however directly said that KT Rama Rao was responsible for the divorce. She was quoted as saying, "He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them... He used to make them drug addicts and then do this... Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family, everybody is aware that such a thing happened.”

Surekha Konda also said that Samantha Ruth Prabhu had worked towards self-empowerment fighting tough situations in life. She said she was even an ideal for her.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu who has had a tough two years with her divorce and subsequent battle with myositis said it was disheartening to see how her name was dragged in a political battle. She said that while Naga Chaitanya and she had not explicitly discussed the reasons for divorce, it gave no one the right of such speculations. Her Insta story read, “My divorce is a personal matter, and I request that you refrain from speculating about it. Our choice to keep things private doesn’t invite misrepresentation. To clarify: my divorce was mutual consent and amicable, with no political conspiracy involved. Could you please keep my name out of political battles? I have always remained non-political and wish to continue doing so.” 

Now, Naga Chaitanya has filed a case of defamation on Surekha Konda. The actor faced a lot of trolling after his divorce, and engagement with Sobhita Dhulipala. It looks like the Akkineni family had enough of this.
