Off topic.. Do we really have such kind of things being practiced anywhere in our country today?? Or is this the writer's talent?

I've seen it's dated but it's not far fetched. Like a mother can't go to her son wedding. All customs and traditions has some form of orthodox conservative view, that as generation and time change family want to change but there's those that love and are comfortable with old.
