What's wrong with that? Well, when you're distorting history and making a propaganda movie just to rake in cash or please the current govt, it's a win for everyone except peace. Hatred gets planted in the public's heart, the government uses it to push their agenda and gain votes, the filmmaker makes money, and the lies prevail. Just because it's a common practice everywhere doesn't make it right. In the US, they might have movies promoting their military propaganda (never in an explicit way the way Bollywood does without any fear btw), but there are also films exposing the horrors and crimes committed by the government in past or present. When was the last Bollywood movie that shed light on the horrors of Gujarat? Oh yeah, that Vivek Oberoi movie, which again painted the opposite of reality.

The reason is simple. India has long standing enmity with Pakistan since the partition. It has nothing to do with religion or the current government. Movies bashing Pakistan are made since 1950s and 60s. It's not like Pakistani movies don't show India bashing. I have read somewhere that even some Pakistani movies bash India so its all tit for tat.

People can just do a simple Google search on India-Pakistan relations and will get the answer. Most of the replies in this thread show sheer ignorance.

You people give waaaaaay too much credit to movies for impacting the people. Especially considering most of our audience is into escapist cinema.

Animal is not going to lead to more violence against women in India. The patriarchal culture, poor upbringing of some sections and such factors will.

Similarly, Pak bashing is not going to create more hatred against Pakistan in the Indian public. Frequent terror attacks and proxy wars will.

Blaming movies is such an easy cop out from placing responsibility on the right sources - rightfully called soft targets

@bold - just last year Pathaan showed Boko Haram was a front for Jim’s terrorist group. Now Jim is a former RAW agent.

How easily these film makers added a dialogue to please global audiences. Boko Haram is the most batbaric brutal terror outfit in Africa and the brutalities couldn’t even be described. Absolute gruesome.

But dear Sid Anand just casually planted a seed that it’s all Jim’s doing.

Isn’t that distorting history? That entire movie is shit show and trying to create conspiracy theories.

Posting again since it got deleted for some reason.

I believe it's pretty simplistic to think that movies don't influence people's minds. It's one of the most effective tools to shape opinions on politics, war, and pretty much everything. There are scientific studies backing up how it affects public views. Fascists worldwide have used it to manipulate people. Unless it doesn't impact you at all or you're in a position to benefit from it, I don't get why anyone would deny such a basic fact.

I very much doubt that there would have even been a partition when at that time the issue would have been Christian people...
