its basically about Elma who gets married to Zarbaab, hes a nice guy and all but its a typical saas bahu story where her in laws are always mean to her and make her do lots of work and shes shown as the mazloom heroine who does whatever she is ordered to do...basically her in laws dont like her and are always taunting her...they always use her husbands money so his pocket is always empty and Elma has to help him out by borrowing money from her family or giving him ehr stuff...she had some jewejry which her mum gave to her before dying, and they even took that from her and gave it to her sister in law for her marriage, and Elma is the type of girl who takes everything and never complains. Then she became pregnant and even in her pregnancy they made her do so much work and they set her sister in laws marriage date as the same date when her baby was due. So on the wedding she gets ill and faints due to high blood pressure because of all the stress and work she had been doing for them as they never let her take rest. Then after a lot of complications she has a baby and on that same day she finds out that her father passed away. Ive only read upto here. Maybe it will get better. Oh yeah and she also has a cousin who isnt mentioned much in the novel but he seems to be in love with her and is always ready to help her. Whenever she is sad she remembers his words.
