'Mata-e-Jaan hai tu', a promising show across the border!

Author's note: We are turning the last curve this week with the final episode of Humsafar set to air this Saturday. It is time to give space for another promisingPakistani drama that can fill the void Humsafar is sure to leave behind. Two familiar reasons why I decided to bring a brand new pakistani drama into your notice ' Writer Farhat Ishtiaq and Fans.

'Mata e Jaan hai tu' premiers tomorrow @ 8pm March 2nd on Hum TV, Pakistan. The promos for this show have been doing the rounds on the net for a while now and that is how it flew under my radar. The fact that it is based on Farhat Ishtiaq'snovel by the same name made me sit up and take notice. And it is also true I cannot ignore the way it has already created a buzz among fans who are eagerly waiting for the show to start.

Mata e Jaan hai tu has an impressive cast with Sarwat Gillani and Adeel Hussainplaying the leads supported by Sanam Saeed as Yamina and Junaid Khan as Adam. It is directed by Pakistan's talented filmmaker and television director/producer,Mehreen Jabbar who is noted for popular television shows Malaal, Doraha andDaam.

Opposites Attract

Mata e Jaan is primarily touted as a love story between two individuals, Ibad Uzair, and Haniya Sajjad in Columbia University.

The promos introducing these two characters give us an insight into their personalities. The distinct pace of the two promos reflects the characterization of both.

Ibad Uzair, the model son, model student, sincere, early to rise, principled, loves to take it slow and his sole purpose in the university is to fulfill his father's aspirations for him. The promo introducing Ibad is calm and sorted, just the way he is.

Haniya Sajjad, late riser, clumsy, disorganized, carefree, spontaneous, and loves the fast pace and does things on the move. The promo introducing Haniya leaves us wanting for more and is beautiful, and refreshing, just the way she is.

Expect fireworks!

Farhat Ishtiaq has woven another story into the script that is deep and intense -Yamina and Adam, a couple in an abusive relationship. Their promo hit me hard and am eager to see this parallel story unfold. I am glad that an issue that is unfortunately widely prevalent and is demeaning to women will be addressed in this show.

I watched the show yesterday.. it was not bad.. can be a lot better.. Sarwat needs some variation in her acting.. she does everything the same way.. the only promising person in the drama was the guy playing Adam.. Junaid is his name?? he is pretty good at being self centered, selfish etc..

Great to know. I loved the first episode.

I think Sarwat & Adeel are perfect for their respective characters. Sarwat has always done an awesome job portraying that bubbly, girl next door kind of characters...I'm sure she'll live up to my expectations with this serial. & I'm so glad Adeel has worked with Mehreen again..I truly believe Adeel will go a long way if he works with great directors like Mehreen etc as opposed to some of the other directors we have. The first episode reminded me of the Adeel I absolutely adored in the drama, Daam (which also was directed by Mehreen)..so, this drama has gotten me pretty excited. Hope it does really well.

I liked everyone except for Adeel for some reason.. He was more stiff then what his character's supposed to be..
Let's see how this goes though.
