Sakhi was first established as bad: disrespectful of elders and hosts, fat-shaming, cruel to a child, invading Devavrat's personal space, arrogant, disrupting Devavrat's sleep with a phone call, sleeping late in the morning ... Sakhi exists only as a foil for Latika, so the writers made her a caricature of a spoiled brat.
Only after several episodes like this, Sakhi ordered wine and angrily drank both glasses. Devavrat was shocked that she expected him to drink and took a surprise selfie of him holding the glass. The point of that scene was that Sakhi and Devavrat don't share the same likes and dislikes. Not that drinking + female = bad nature. Far from denouncing Sakhi, the characters are insisting that Devavrat has to spend more time with her.
Sundarā Manāmadhe Bharalī did use alcohol as a symbol of feminine depravity when Abhilasha used to drink while fixating on Abhimanyu.
The show had a double standard, as it didn't portray Ashutosh as a bad man when he was getting drunk and lying face-down in the front yard. Indian TV wouldn't have a female character in a sympathetic storyline about alcoholism.
