The actor, who has hardly found a mention in the award speeches by the filmmakers at various events, says that although it initially bothered him, he has no bitterness for anyone anymore.
Talking about award functions, Kapoor mentions how some time back his acceptance speech was deleted in the final edit when the event was telecast. But, not all experiences were similar.
He says, "When Shah Rukh asked me to say something after I accepted the Filmfare Award, I told him about the incident. He promised not to clip my speech and when it was televised."
SRK kept his word and a grateful Kapoor messaged him in gratitude.
Vicky Donor was a milestone in Kapoor's career with most admitting that it was his role that made the film so popular. Kapoor laughs and says, "Not many times it has happened in Indian cinema that an actor has imitated a character actor at award functions," referring to Shahid Kapoor's Dr Chaddha gig.
When asked him if the star-struck film industry has finally started to take him seriously, he says, "Things are changing. But talent and success still don't go hand in hand here."
This is not Kapoor's first brush with the National Awards, the actor-director-singer won the Best Director - V Shantaram Award for Abhay. He says, "I am totally in mood to direct another film. I will start working on a script soon."
