A special screening was held by Yash Raj Films for the most awaited
movie, Rab ne Bana Di Jodi starring SRK and Anushka, for the cast and
crew of the film, which included Gauri Khan and their kids too. It is
known from the sources that everyone present there loved the film.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a love story, directed by Aditya Chopra who returned to direction after eight long years. The last movie he directed was Mohabbatein.
The storyline of the movie is very simple yet very interesting. As it is said in the movie, "There is a extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi". And one such ordinary jodi is that of Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) and Taani (new comer, Anushka Sharma).
Surinder is a simple, clean-hearted, honest man, leading a very ordinary life. He works for Punjab Power, a power plant, and have a daily routine and rituals to be followed. He cooks, cleans, washes, and even irons by himself. One fine day, a young and beautiful girl enters into his life - Taani, a fun loving and vivacious girl. For her the whole world is like a canvas and loves to paint her own life with the colors of rainbow. But some unfortunate circumstances changes it all.
Best part of the film is its ending, their Honeymoon travel in Japan, executed a bit differently and will surely win everyone's heart.
The whole journey is full of laughter, tears, joy, pain, music, dance and the most important love.
This is the first time King Khan's fans are seeing him playing a role of a very very ordinary man. There are two different get-ups in which we can see both SRK and Anushka. First, a very ordinary person, SRK with loose pants and shirts, oiled hair combed to one side and Anushka in traditional salwar-kameez. Second is the dude look of SRK with spikey hair and clean shaven and Anushka dons designer dresses.
Anushka could not have had a better debuting platform. She is beautiful. Her dialogue delivery and dancing will leave memory on our mind as we leave the theater. She has tremendous appeal for youngsters across India.
Aditya Chopra's direction is good. Salim Suleman's music is overall okay, Haulle Hualle and Dance Pe Chance, are only only 2 songs are good composition and others are average. "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte" is not that much strong but presence of five bollywood diva, Kajol, Bipasha, Lara, Preity and Rani, makes this song a special one. Cinematography of Ravi K. Chandran is remarkable. Vaibhavi Merchant and Shiamak Davar both coreographed the songs, Dance Pe Chance and Haulle Haulle, really well.
On the whole, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, a good love story with perfect casting. The movie have some light moments which will make you laugh and smile. Surprisingly opening at the box office was not upto expectation, but it might pick up over the weekend.
Bolly Curry Rating: 2.5 chillies out of 5.
