'Jigra', featuring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, keeps facing challenges at the box office as it moves into its second week. The film saw its lowest earnings so far on its second Friday.
As per preliminary estimates from Sacnilk.com, 'Jigra' generated about Rs 1.15 crore nett across all languages on Day 8, marking its lowest earnings since the release. The film, which stars Vedang Raina in a supporting role, had a lackluster first week, accumulating an estimated Rs 22.45 crore nett. Out of this total, the Hindi version contributed roughly Rs 22.24 crore, while the Telugu version added around Rs 21 lakh. The overall box office revenue for the film now totals approximately Rs 23.60 crore nett.
'Jigra' started its journey with an opening collection of Rs 4.55 crore. Even with slight growth over the weekend, it made Rs 6.55 crore on Saturday and Rs 5.5 crore on Sunday. During the weekdays, the Vasan Bala-directed film kept a consistent performance, with daily earnings fluctuating between Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 1.65 crore.
Jigra, created by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Alia Bhatt-Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions, tells the tale of Satya, who experiences emotional turmoil after her younger brother Ankur is wrongfully accused of drug possession. He receives a death sentence on the remote island of Hanshi Dao. Satya formulates a plan to break him out of jail.
Jigra premiered on October 11 alongside Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. While the romantic comedy is also performing poorly, it is slightly outperforming the jailbreak drama.
