Jaya Bachchan gets a suggestion from Jagdeep Dhankar to avoid Amitabh Bachchan's name

Jaya Bachchan has been again in the news today after her interaction with Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankar. The latter told the actress and Parliamentarian about the name change process in the official records of ECI (Election Commission of India). Two to three days back, she was upset when she was addressed as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan in the Parliament. A video is going viral where Dhankar has addressed her as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. After hearing that, Jaya asks him if he knows the meaning of Amitabh. Then, he tells her that there is a process to change one's name in the election certificate and that form is submitted in the Rajya Sabha. The actress said she was very proud of her husband and what he had achieved but to add his name to hers was a "new drama" and "incorrect". Prior to this, she had the same issue when Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh addressed her as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. A certain section of Indian women do use their husband's name as middle name after they get married.

Jaya Bachchan has been serving as a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2004. This is her fifth term. The Bachchan family was very close to Amar Singh and other political leaders. She is from the Samajwadi Party. It is the same one that has leaders like Akhilesh Yadav. Jaya Bachchan stood by Mulayam Singh Yadav when his close aide Amar Singh was told to leave the party. She is also good friends with Dimple Yadav, the wife of Akhilesh Yadav.
