Kangana Ranaut who is doing a number of interviews for her upcoming movie, Emergency has spoken about the viral row between Jagdeep Dhankar and Jaya Bachchan. The Rajya Sabha member took offense when he called her out as, ‘Jaya Amitabh Bachchan Ji’. She said it would have sufficed if he had just called her Jaya Bachchan instead of adding the superstar’s name. Kangana Ranaut said this notion of feminism had ruined the structure of families and marriages.

She was giving an interview to Fever FM where she said that it was sad that beautiful differences between man and woman was seen as discrimination. She was quoted as saying, “A man is a man, and a woman is a woman, and their togetherness is something beautiful. These are petty issues. In the name of feminism, people are going in an ugly direction… Society is going into an ugly direction.”

Of late, feminism has become a hotly debated topic in social media. Many feel that in the name of modernity women are creating more hatred over irrelevant matters. There is a concept of cancel culture that does not seem to believe in forgiveness. She further said, “This arrogance hasn’t spared even the beautiful bond within families. Humans should embrace each other and not dissect each other with this sort of harshness.”

Kangana Ranaut hinted that it was unnecessary on part of Jaya Bachchan to react in that irate manner towards Jagdeep Dhankar. The speaker reminded her how her name was mentioned in the electoral records. The Tanu Weds Manu actress further said, “People are simply flaring up with the name coming up like they’re getting a panic attack or something. And when they say, ‘My identity is taken over, I am destroyed’ I just feel sad.”

The release date of her movie Emergency has been moved from September 6, 2024. It is based on the life of former PM Indira Gandhi who was assassinated for her stringent measures against Khalistani outfits in Punjab. The Shiromani Akali Dal has warned people that screening of the film in the state could led to unrest in law and order. They feel it is offensive towards some figures Sikhs consider as martyrs.
