Boney Kapoor disgusted with Sridevi Bungalow makers to ask for a restraining order

It’s been more than seven months since Priya Prakash Varrier’s Bollywood debut movie Sridevi Bungalow’s trailer was released. As soon as the trailer went viral, the makers of the movie found itself in trouble due its story line. 

Priya, who became a sensation in the country after her wink video went viral all over the country, traces the journey of a lonely actress in the movie. The trailer showcases how the actress consumed by some tragedy, and after a series of events, is shown dead inside a bathtub. 

Many drew a conclusion that the movie is based on the legendary actress Sridevi, especially how the trailer ends with the actress’ death by drowning in a bathtub. Along with several Twitter users Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor slammed the makers of the movie. The 63-year-old producer had even sent a legal notice to the makers of the movie.

The recent reports from India Today claim that the fact that they have ignored the legal notice and did not change the movie’s tile as well as the lead’s name, did not sit well with the producer. 

A source close to the development was quoted by India Today, saying, “He is disgusted by all those who have chosen to be associated with this lurid project. When he heard the film’s title and saw the first look, Boney had sent a legal notice to the producer. 

"But so far they’ve ignored the notice. Boney intends to take even more strict legal action, asking for a restraining order against using Sridevi’s name in the title. They can make what they like — it’s a free world. But they can’t use that name”

While talking about the same topic, even Arbaaz Khan and Priya had confirmed the news that the movie has nothing to do with the controversial death of actress Sridevi. Arbaaz had told TOI, “When they offered me the film, I’d asked them if it has anything to do with the unfortunate incident with Sridevi ji and they denied it completely. They said the story has no relevance with her and that they had registered the story and the title of the film long back.”

Directed by Prasanth Mampully, Sridevi Bungalow stars Priya in the lead role with Arbaaz and Georgia Andriani portraying pivotal roles in the movie.
