Mr. India 2: Did Boney Kapoor confirm a sequel to the Sridevi classic with Janhvi Kapoor in the lead?

The Sekhar Kapur movie Mr. India 1987 is one of the classic movies with immense repeat value. Since long, fans have thought whether Kapur would make a sequel or not. Given the craze for superhero theme movies like Avengers, Black Panther, Wonder Woman in India, the time seems ideal to make Mr. India 2. Boney Kapoor has put up a post on his social media which is making fans wonder if he is indeed planning a sequel to Mr. India. The post read, “Can still do it again.” After seeing the post, Janhvi Kapoor commented, “You have always done it, you still do it and you will continue to.” 

As fans say, Sridevi was the X-factor of Mr. India. After seeing the post, people had mixed reactions. Some wanted a reboot of the movie with Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. Others said that Sridevi was the heart and soul of the movie. A fan wrote, “Sridevi is the soul and essence of Mr. India. Her unique charm, comic timing, and magnetic screen presence brought the character of Seema to life in a way that cannot easily be replicated.” 

Janhvi Kapoor said told Pinkvilla that Mr. India was one of the best movies ever made in Bollywood. She said she was unsure if a remake would be a good idea. Janhvi Kapoor was quoted as saying, “I don’t know what the plans for that are. Again, I think the makers know best. Whoever the director would be, he will know best. Something as pure as that, you can’t enforce things on that.” 

The young actress was last seen in Ulajh. Though the movie got good reviews, it did not succeed at the box office. Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter will be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Varun Dhawan.
