Arshad Warsi, before his debut in Tere Mere Sapne in the 90s, actually worked as a choreographer on Boney Kapoor's film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in 1993. Following his recent interview with Samdish Bhatia, Arshad faced backlash from some Bollywood celebrities. The actor claimed he was paid less for his choreography work on the 1993 movie. In response, producer Boney Kapoor mentioned that Arshad wasn't a big star at that time.
In his recent Bollywood Hungama interview, Boney Kapoor talked about Arshad Warsi's claim of being underpaid for choreographing in Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Kapoor mentioned he came across Arshad's statement and found it amusing that it took the actor three decades to raise the issue from 1992.
When discussing Arshad's comments on the Anil Kapoor and Sridevi film, Boney Kapoor remarked, "1992 mein shoot kiya aur yeh abhi baat kar raha hai iske baare mein (We shot it in 1992 and he is discussing this matter now). At that time, he was not a star." The producer pondered how they could have paid him a substantial sum back then.
Boney went on to say that they initially thought it would take four days to finish the choreography, but the song director, Pankaj Parashar, wrapped it up in three days. The producer stated that Arshad was paid Rs 75,000 for the three-day choreography work, with a daily rate of Rs 25,000.
Boney Kapoor, who later collaborated with Arshad on a TV show, remembered that the Golmaal actor never brought up this incident during that period. The producer referred to himself as a soft target and hinted that nowadays, everyone seems to seek media attention.
When asked about it, director Pankaj Parashar stated that he wasn't part of the financial dealings and directed the track as a "favor" to producer Boney. In a show of solidarity with Boney, the song director mentioned that the producer was unaware of the payment details and initially thought Arshad's recent statement might have been made in jest.
Pankaj Parashar set the record straight about the song's completion and dismissed Arshad's assertion that he finished it in three days. Parashar described the actor as a "newcomer choreographer" who "didn't control the shoot".
Arshad Warsi told Samdish in a previous interview that he asked for Rs 1 lakh for the four-day shoot. But, he received a cheque of Rs 75,000 instead. Arshad choreographed the title track of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.
