Farhan Akhtar shares his opinio about the film Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's movie, Animal, hit the screens back in 2023. Even though it's been more than six months since its release, the buzz surrounding Vanga's creation refuses to die down. The film stirred up a mix of reactions from viewers, with some pointing out how the Ranbir Kapoor-led movie seems to glorify toxic masculinity and misogyny. Following in the footsteps of Mahesh Bhatt and Arshad Warsi, Farhan Akhtar has now shared his thoughts on the film. Farhan expressed that Animal didn't quite resonate with him personally, and he particularly found Ranbir's character, Ranvijay Singh, to be "problematic."

In a recent chat with Faye D'Souza, Farhan Akhtar spilled the beans on his views about Ranbir Kapoor's flick, Animal. Farhan appreciated Ranbir's acting chops, the background score, and Vanga's dedication to the film. However, the actor-director made it clear that he wouldn't suggest anyone watch it.

Farhan said, "The film didn't do much for me. Is it something that I would recommend somebody to watch, I guess not." When asked if he had the opportunity to produce Animal, he answered, "No, I won't. it doesn't resonate with me. For me, I feel that the character is problematic."

But the actor-director emphasized that it's not his place to dictate dos and don'ts to fellow filmmakers. He stressed that each person has their unique path in the industry. The director of Dil Chahta Hai expressed his disapproval of such norms, stating that there's no clear remedy for this issue.

The director of Don 3 went on to mention that Animal didn't quite click with him "personally," but he commended Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his unwavering faith in the film. Acknowledging Vanga's dedication, Farhan speculated that the Animal director might have faced criticism regarding the storyline from certain quarters. Despite any negative feedback, Farhan believed that Vanga remained resolute in his decision to helm the 2023 movie.

In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Mahesh Bhatt delved into the varied reactions surrounding Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film, Animal. Bhatt described this phenomenon as a facet of the entertainment industry, labeling it a "bloodsport." The director of Sadak 2 differentiated between two types of individuals: those who revel in your failures and those who cheer for your successes.

Arshad Warsi expressed his admiration for Animal, mentioning that he thoroughly enjoyed the movie and found it to be a unique experience. He described it as a "figment of a man's imagination."

Talking about Farhan Akhtar, the actor-director, has been part of films like Rock On, Rock On 2, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Luck By Chance, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and many others. His latest lead role was in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's movie, Toofan, released in 2021.
