Had Jersey original been dubbed and released in Hindi it probably would have made better business.
Hope now they stop selling Hindi remake rights from now on.

what do you think is the problem with the hindi versions of south films? bad acting? something lost in the remake translation? audience tastes in north dont match the ones in the south?
btw i wonder why people bother dubbing. Do dubbed movies generally do well in other markets?

There was a time when 50-60% of Tamil films were dubbed into Telugu and they did well too.
Other south Indian states restricted dubbed films so not many Telugu films were dubbed into other languages.
Hindi films dubbed into South Indian languages don't do well in south.
Something gets lost in translation perhaps.
Judai is another example. It is remade from Telugu movie. The soul of the film seemed to have gone. It's really funny because the actress who played the role in Telugu original wife used to be regarded as sastha copy of Sridevi. It was almost scene to scene remake but something was just missing despite the actors in Hindi remake being far superior to the actors in Telugu original. In Telugu the wife's innocence and naivete that made the movie a classic but in Hindi Sridevi's role came across as a money grabber and materialistic.
Even though Kabir Singh is a hit again it was viewed in a very different way. Where Arjun Reddy was perceived as the story of man who had problems is handling his life and relationships Kabir Singh was perceived in a very different way.
