What's the fuss about that movie? I saw people making threads here that they would never wanna associate Pakistani movies to something like this and Shahid Afiridi would be ashamed and all.. I say Shahid Afridi should be proud they made a film on him.. and portrayed him in such good light

Anyways so my sister was watching the movie online and I caught some of it.. I actually found it a pretty entertaining movie.. they've made it good.. The actors have acted good.. It reminded of Chak de India with the guys ofcourse and somewhat also like Iqbal.. but then the story was interesting, the songs are good.. direction was fine.. I don't expect much from Pakistani movies because they've just starting doing main stream cinema and this was entertaining.. If I went and watched this in a theatre I would definitely enjoy...I'm gonna go back and finish it for sure.. I saw some of it in the middle.. There's this guy who plays a Maulvi racist cricketer? I don't know his name but he was so good and kinda funny too.. Humayun as the coach was good.. The boy who wants to be Shahid Afiridi was good.. his Sialkoti Punju accent was pretty good..

That Malal song is so good.. what do we actually want from these movies? they should make movies with burqa clad women? What if Mahnoor wore shorts? what if she wore a sleeveless Saree? do we not see this in Indian movies? heck in the real world around us? Do we really not see people wearing these clothes in Pakistan.. okay maybe not shorts but they do wear all type of clothing on TV and in the real world.. atleast in Karachi..

I think the movie was an attempt towards the revival and I would applaud the makers that they made such a movie.. I'd call it a family entertainer I didn't find anything inappropriate in it but then again I'm yet to finish it.. According to my sister there was nothing vulgar or cheap in it and she loved the movie.. I liked whatever I saw too..It was written by Vasay Cahudhry..😳 and it collected 55 million Rs.. I think that's a very good amount considering the number of screens Pakistan has and the people who actually go to watch movies..

So moral of my post: I don't see anything wrong with the movie.. I think it was a clean entertainer.. and more movies like this should be made..😳

I have still to watch the movie MM but I am very excited for this. The only two Pak movies really got me excited are: MHSA and Waar. I read a lot of topics going on about MHSA and I don't get it either. I wouldn't add more but this: Hats off to you for creating this topic. 👏👏 I agree with each and every word of yours.

To put it simple: It's in the nature of people there; they can't digest the food without criticizing and complaining about anything and everything. That's what I have observed and learned from my experiences. I recently had similar post about the movie 'Waar' on FB. Someone posted a negative review of it, basically trashing the movie. And MHSA and WAAR, are just two examples. If you are on FB and you liked the PD Page there, it's everyday thing with every show/actor/movie.. almost everything. But if there is another reason for this and if you get to know, please let me know too. I am curious too.😉

P.S. I did not write this to hurt anyone but if anyone is hurt I am sorry.

I haven't seen the movie so just commenting about something you said. I am sure girls do wear shorts in Pakistan because there are non-Muslims living there and of course some Muslims too.

Also, who knows how the many different Pakistani's residing in Pakistan and around the world posting in this forum dress.

i haven't watched the full movie but even in the trailer it self it gave me BW feeling, like i was watching a BW movie. M sure they didn't had to add those item numbers. but again everybody's choices are diff, i'd rather watch paki films like waar, and upcoming movies like operation 021, saye-khuda then watch MHSA.
Also the story is very similar to chak de india...don't u think so?

It is kinda similar.. I think all kinds of movies should be made.. rom-coms, drama, period, etc etc.. the film industry will not revive just on serious movies like Waar.. that's not everyone's cup of tea

I don't know about the topics because I was not coming to the forum but as far as pakistani movies are concerned they are still in struggling situation and doing pretty well the recent examples are waar and MHSA both has quite good reviews I haven't watched any of them but trailers look pretty good we should start appreciating the efforts they are doing during this phase instead of making fuss

My problem with MSAH was never the fact that Mahnoor was dressed skimpily, or that there was an item song. I hated the fact that they duped Afridi into agreeing to a film that was pitched to him as 'wholesome entertainment' and then went ahead and incorporated completely unwholesome content into it.

I think it's extremely unethical to manipulate the information you choose to reveal to the subject of your film, in order to get them to give you the green light, and then throw all that out of the window and just do what you want to do irrespective of how much it goes against the subject of your films nature.

Everyone knows Afridi is a religious guy, who likes to stick to his principles. Hence it's not too far a stretch of expectations to believe Humayun would take this into account when producing a film that (1) talks about how Afridi inspires people and (2) uses both Afridi's name and image as it's biggest selling point.

When someone agrees to let you use their name and image you take on the responsibility of ensuring that name/image is not tarnished in any way, and have an obligation to produce content that is truthful to the nature of that name/image.

By choosing to incorporate those things into the film Humayun, went against everything an ethical and professional individual would do. Especially as the film would have been fine without those things, they were merely incorporated to make the big bucks. Which makes it even worse.

I have never had much respect for Humayun because he's always come across as a pervert, a 'jack the lad' who has zero respect for women. But after this movie I can categorically say that I do not like the man at all.

It's not about dressing a certain way or producing a certain type of film. It's about having the decency to act in an ethical and moral fashion.

If Humayun made a film with Mahnoor in a skimpy outfit, and an item song, that did not use the name and image of a man who is not ok with such things as it's biggest selling point, I wouldn't have cared at all. I wouldn't have watched it, but I wouldn't have cared either. As I'm sure most people wouldn't have.

I hate Khuda Ke Liye for similar reasons. Except Khuda Ke Liye is 100 times worse because it actually manipulates Islamic facts to serve it's own purpose. Which is quite horrifying.

There are ways of doing things, and Humayun Saeed and Shoaib Mansoor always choose the unethical ways.
