Okay, so here is the Urdu introduction/history I came up with. It just needs to be edited and added on too. I was thinking we could add a Sher to the end? 😳 And Fari, great start!

Urdu is one of the most poetic, romantic, and respectful languages. It borrows words from many languages primarily Persian, Hindi, and Arabic. For instance, a pineapple is called "annanas" in both French and Urdu. 😆 It dates back to the Mughal Empire. It is the official language of Pakistan, sharing its position with English. It is also the second official language of many of the provinces of India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The importance of Urdu in the Muslim world had been portrayed in the Holy cities in Saudia Arab, where most signage is written in Arabic, English and Urdu. In Pakistan Urdu varies from province to province as it borrows words, proverbs and phonetics from indigenous languages such as Punjabi, Pashto, Balochi and Sindhi. The alphabet is an extension to the Arabic alphabet and is written right to left. Urdu holds the largest collection of works on Islamic literature and Sharia. Urdu Literacy is known all over for its various genres and poetic style. Popular genres include "daastaan" (traditional stories), "afsana" (short stories), "safrnama" (travel story), "mazmoon" (essay), "sarguzisht" (account/narrative), "inshaeya" (satirical essay), "murasela" (editorial), and "khud navvisht" (autobiography). Urdu is the premium language for poetry, Sher o Shari (proverbs), Gaazaal (musical poetry), Nazm (objective poetry), Masnavi (a longer poem, narrative), Qasida (poems in praise, usually of royalty), and Naat's (poetry in religious praise) all over South Asia. One of the first Urdu poets was Mir Taqi Mir and after him many followed in lead. Popular Urdu poets and writers include Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ahmed Faraz, and Mirza Ghalib.
