Because the original incident has nothing to do with Khilji pining for Padmavati. Otherwise, we'd have to believe a parrot actually spread gossip about her beauty.

Even worse is the Krishna birth story. Most TV shows portray Kamsa imprisoning Vasudev and Devaki in same cell 😆. I mean, wouldn't it do simply to keep them separate until she menopaused?

Actual text says Kamsa was merely having them watched because Narada warned him of potential contenders to the throne and threat to Kamsa's life. Then, Kamsa proceeded to have the male children killed.

Lifeless looking sounds about right. Because she has no spark left and her eyes look dead. The monobrow was scary as well.

yeah it was hard to believe that someone would move even one muscle for that face, forget about waging a full fledged war.

what was up with that unibrow btw? did the real queen have one too? Aditi R. H didn't have a unibrow in the movie. If lack of proper grooming was the reason, they should have had all the women walking around with that atrocious unibrow, but they only reserved that for Padmavati. why? I don't get it.

Not sure. One DP fan told me it was because this kind of look was considered beautiful at the time!

You know the magic of this place is that every super star is trolled in front of nuggu stars & every successful actress is called not so beautiful while poor, underrated are called uncut diamond's like beauty.

Sonam was so right about people's mentality. Aise hi badnaam huyi bechari. 😆

I don’t know if any other actress could have pulled off that unibrow look, that should tell you how “average” looking is Deepika 😆

People here are probably just trolling😆 but still putting it in here because I liked the movie & so I dug up the original poem & tried to read it 😆

For the unibrow --

The original poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi describes Padmavati's brow as a black bow that's capable of throwing poisonous / killing arrows. The original verse -

भौहैं स्याम धनुक जनु ताना । जा सहुँ हेर मार विष-बाना ॥

हनै धुनै उन्ह भौंहनि चढे । केइ हतियार काल अस गढे ?॥

Now a "bow" shape can be possible only if the brows are joined together. So, the original poem's Padmavati did have a unibrow. As we know, beauty standard in those days weren't like it is today. Unibrows are usually rarer than normal brows and probably that's why it was considered beautiful back then. SLB, I believe, wanted to keep it authentic, so he gave his Padmavati a unibrow too.
