Really? I've met several people in real life who think her looks are nothing extraordinary.

That goes for pretty much every actress though.

She looked amazing in OSO.. she lost her looks after a point but I think she looks better in western outfits than Indian ones.

Aditi looked so so pretty in padmawat. I remember refusing to blink whenever she came on the screen. Deepika looked pretty but not as much as her beauty was coasted about in the movie.

About Aditi Rao Hydari, yes, she is gorgeous! I am not denying that. But she is not an established lead actress. She is beautiful, but lacks screen presence & of course, Box office pull. Back when Padmavat was made, DP was one of the top actresses and she was beautiful too. That's why she was chosen. If not DP, the other two options would have been Katrina or Alia and neither of them would have fit in.

Aditi Rao Hydari is beautiful, but then probably Meherunnisa was beautiful too, so she was well casted in that role too.

I don’t like Deepika for various reasons, but the woman is pretty (hate her eyes though). That said, her look as Padmavati was not great...they made her look too pale and kind of washed out. While I agree with people who say she has an Indian look, I don’t think her looks are classic traditional, which is why she looks better in western styles and pseudo-traditional like RL (in which she looked amazing). Sonakshi might have made a good Padmavati though.

Had Khilji unkil stolen a look at Padmavati… he would’ve kicked himself for leaving his begum behind for chasing the lifeless looking, gaunt queen 😆

Deepika is beautiful but not the stunningly ethereal beauty that someone would wage a war for.

I had said that when Padmavat promos released. Someone like Aishwarya was better suited for such roles.

Having said that, Deepika was the only one best suited for such beauty type roles in her era and she is the most beautiful woman of her generation of actors and due to her eyes, she fits traditional Indian ideal of beauty perfectly. Farah also chose her to recreate Hema style Dream girl looks in OSO due to her beauty and her eyes.

I do not think Aditi looked better than Deepika in Padmavat. Aditi looked great but Deepika looked exceptional.

Deepika was breathtakingly beautiful in OSO. Her looks have changed now. Not as gorgeous as she was earlier. But I do not think anyone else could have been cast in Padmavat type roles from her generation of actresses.

Deepika was perfect as the royal queen except for the creepy unibrow.
