Deepika is beautiful but the way she was styled in Padmavat was horrid - especially the monobrow. Meanwhile, Aditi got to enjoy the pleasure of having two brows instead of one, so naturally she was going to look better.

I do agree that she was a miscast but I can’t imagine any other actress portraying Padmavat at the time. SLB should have made the movie when Aishwarya was in her prime. Only she could make Khiji going crazy over her beauty believable. Imagine all that effort of running through the castle, thumping your chest and roaring, only to realise that his wife was better looking this whole time. What a kahani-mein-twist. 😆

Yeah well I agree. I am not saying that Deepika is not beautiful but queen Padmini is supposed to be a breathtaking beauty of her times who made Allauddin Khilji so obsessed with her that he massacred nearly 30,000 people just to get her, atleast according to the information available on internet, I don't know how true it is but that's what they showed in the movie right. And Deepika just doesn't look like that.

. Poets praises that Padmavati's skin colour is so fair, that if she had pan , even juice colour will be visible in her neck . However, If queen Padmavati was from Sinhala kingdom ,from Srilanka I doubt her skin colour was as fair as they praise. Nevertheless ,she might be beautiful as those days beauty wasn't confined to skin colour or any of the criteria which is relevant today. Unibrow, big eyes, small waist, wide hips,long neck were considered to be beautiful those days I guess

Whereas Mehrunisa is of Turkish or from Afghanistan ,her skin colour is supposed to be fair.

Those days social media was not available to do polls to find out the most beautiful women. Parrots, pigeons were messengers and they pass on the dialogues of locals ,so may be Padmavati was the most beautiful women in their area and messengers spread the message to other dynasty.

Even if Khilji saw Padmavati and if she looked anything like Deepika ,he would be exhilarated as he was looking for a Sinhala woman or Rajasthan woman . Mehrunisa in real might be beautiful but he is used to those kind of beauty and he is looking for different kind of beauty. Also he wanted to meet her not because he was in love ,it was just superficial feeling .

Why didn't he show him some ugly woman and tell him that it was Padmavati? Just tell him that the rumour of her beauty was spread because she was ugly af. Everyone would have lived happily,

It's not like he would have googled or checked her FB or LinkedIn profile.😆

For that matter, why to show him only right? Why didn’t he ask him to go take a hike? I think it's not as straight forward as we imagine it to be.

It was at a cost of thousands of people.. that is why.

I am probably the only one who is not enamored by Deepika's beauty. She's attractive/pretty but that's all. I think she has a photogenic face, and can give nice expressions which makes her look pretty, but she is not strikingly beautiful. The way her face is proportioned (too bulbous forehead, squinted eyes, the eyebrows are too bushy) it doesn't look beautiful to me. Always found Anushka prettier, and even Sonam falls under the definition of feminine beauty, something I don't see Deepika having. And Kat is like 100 times prettier than her.

She has an appeal but it's not classical beauty. She is more attractive/pretty than being conventionally beautiful. I find it strange when people compare her with Ash.

Also if it was the Om Shanti Om Deepika I would understand ... but the Padmavati Deepika looked average at best.
