('aaj aap iss baat ko lekar nahi jhagdene') .... not the next crap she is going to vomit. ... well... the whole convo was odd - the first time Virat says or discusses something like this, surprised me. [gave it a huge 3 in my update, since it came out of nowhere.] Her side of the promise was that she wont hide anything that happens... yeah... can see how that can play out.
In one way, they have to continue the game / tone and they find a way to do it... but then we have to assume he has suddenly become serious about his 'promises'... he has always found a way out of his promises - biwi to Baiko being just one of the examples, and 'bhad me gaya promise' the other. This promise is just an excuse.
Another angle i see is what she said when he was drunk. Her fights with him made her forget what her dad had done. I think it is possible Babs being this way helps her forget what he has done to her. In that sense, she will prefer babs to continue being this way so that she doesn't have to deal with some hard facts. Of course its not conscious. [This is another version of 'Babs shielding Virat the character'.] But neither the father / Virat thing nor the Babs/Virat thing makes sense with what I know about the character - had called her earlier dialogue bullshit. That's just the writers trying to convince crap through Ammu - which they often do.
