Couldn't tolerate the colored word vomit 😉Thus, removed most of it. My points in black.
Ann
Pl accept my sincere appreciation and thanks for your terrific support for this thread all through. My heart- felt thanks for your kind words of encouragement too.
Apologies for the huge delay in my response to your posts. I had been wanting to do a separate post for you all these days. But had been really tied up and just got to run through them. And these posts reflects your brilliance and never say die attitude J.
And, here is my small tofa' to you for this J, and you will be happy to know that it is from the Shehenshah himself:
- Harem has more than 5000 begums & baandis and it is Shehenshah's prerogative as to whom he would like to spend his time with and when.
And it is a known fact whom he longs to be with and whose company he values the most among the 5000! And his own words during the showdown night.
- I prayed to Kudha to be blessed with similar gifts from you each year
- (At Ajmer) Bless me with a never ending company of Jodha in all walks of life
So, it is from the horse's mouth and we know the worth, unless someone has doubts in Shehenshah's intelligence and decision making capability. We would agree that this speaks volumes of Jodha's greatness holistically and impact on him, not just as an emotional companion, but also as an intelligent companion who could make a difference, sought in all walks of life.
And to the extent, that the Shehenshah even set the expectation in the queen's mind to "read (the truth) from his queen's eyes", by himself setting an earlier example of "seeing purity in his queen's eyes"😉
Just a couple of thoughts (I know it is too late to respond now, but better late than never is the thought now J. I am not sure if we need to carry on the discussion further on this in this thread)
- Akbar's birthday Gift: While the incident of Jodha landing up correctly at the right spot of the need (villagers requesting for a well) may demand explanation (even raised by me earlier), it may still not necessarily (thanks to the perspectives shared by Sandhya and you regarding the CVs!). I wonder how many of our friends would have forgiven yet another delay in JJ confession let alone consummation, by converting this into another few weeks track detailing on how Jodha happened to know this place and the state of affairs! The key message sought to be conveyed is Akbar's understanding of what it really means to win the hearts of his subject and his said transformation- the human in him was awoken, which he himself acknowledged as the biggest gift in his life and could not restrain himself from sharing his gratitude to Jodha until morning. And this is achieved.
While Akbar wished and conveyed that he cared for his subjects (Malwa incident), the action on the ground as such and in the spirit of it was only after the above incident with Jodha. He had a huge learning on what this true care is all about. It is after this that the subjects cared for him, when he truly won his awaam. This is a milestone change in his life, even as expressed by him and the total credit goes to Jodha as attributed by himself. If he had all this in him already, his reaction post this incident fails logically. You have clarified this yourself, just adding my bit J
- Regarding the point that Jalal's being doubt fair, and Jodha's trust expectation not practical - I would like to quote the Mahabharata again here - Panchali is married to five husbands and we know what it means and the complications in the normal sense. If this relationship amongst them has sustained without any issues, face-off within brothers etc., it is only because of trust. She has to be cut off not just physically, but mentally also from other husbands other than the chosen one for that year. While she can achieve it, there can still be room for doubts in other husbands mind regarding her loyalty etc.? Still they did not have an iota of doubt.
I would like to dedicate this post to you Ann J
