We are onto Match 59 already. Time has flown. It is GT hosting CSK tonight. GT need to win to stay alive. CSK want to win in order to move to No. 3. If they win, they go level with SRH on points, but have a better net-run-rate. If they lose, their path to the playoffs become trickier. Subplots await us in this rematch of last year's final and this year's tournament opener. It doesn't seem like that long ago when these teams last met, but they look completely different units. Welcome to our live commentary.

The most consistent team in the history of IPL are living up to their legacy once again. Under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings have done a pretty good job this season and find themselves in a strong position with three more games to go. A win today further solidifies their chance to make it through to the knockouts. With 541 runs in 11 games, Ruturaj is only behind Virat Kohli in the list of leading run-getters this season. Today he has a chance to inch closer to Kohli’s tally of 634 runs. Shubman Gill, who scored almost 900 runs last year is not anywhere close in the list, precisely why Gujarat Titans are placed at the bottom. Let’s hope the Titans manage to put up a spirited performance in their remaining three games of the season and have something for their fans to cheer about. Toss and teams are not far away, stay tuned for all the updates..

Two teams eliminated. Two teams almost through to the playoffs. We are moving towards the business end of the tournament as every game becomes crucial. Teams cannot afford to be any more complacent. Given the quality of cricket Gujarat Titans have played this season, they might be the third team to get eliminated from the tournament tonight. They face Chennai Super Kings who beat them in the grand finale last season and the five-time IPL champions might hurt them again. Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Match 59 of IPL 2024 folks.

Pitch report: It's got a good covering of grass and it feels solid under the hand. I am looking at a high-scoring game. Two teams are going to come and push that 200-run mark. I can't see the pitch changing. There might be a little bit of swing early on. You got two bowlers on either side that can swing. Good outfield, I am looking at a high-scoring game, reads Chris Morris.

If it is CSK, it has to be all about MS Dhoni, right? But Dhoni makes sure he comes out to bat only for the last two overs. Who knows if CSK might have rested him had Devon Conway had been available? He is carrying a side strain, and he can't bat for long. Now they don't have a keeper-batter who can give him a break. So they make do with they have, and max it out. Here's what their coach Stephen Fleming had to say about the situation.

"Now, one of our challenges is that we got a good back-up keeper [Aravelly Avanish], but he's no MS Dhoni. We want to keep MS Dhoni on the field doing what he does best, which is the last two-three-four overs with the bat, and his keeping and his ability... the sheer technical advice for the new captain is really important."
