BCCI to meet IPL owners at month-end; player retentions, salary cap on agenda
The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) owners' meeting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take place at the end of this month. According to IPL insiders, the BCCI has asked the owners to be available for a meeting likely on July 30 or 31, although the exact date has not yet been confirmed.
The meeting is expected to take place at the BCCI office in Mumbai. Generally, such meetings are held in a five-star hotel, but the BCCI wants to invite the owners to their newly refurbished office inside the Wankhede Stadium complex.
The main agenda of the meeting will be the key issue of player retentions. There have been varying views on the number of retentions allowed for a franchise. Some argue that continuity is essential, as most franchises have existed for over 17 years now and the number of retentions permitted should be as high as eight.
RCB do need a new wicketkeeper and captain option as well so…🤪
I guess this is a speculation.
Until they make the official announcement, we have to take everything with a pinch of salt.
As far as I know, Franchises can decide whom they want to retain before the mega auction, not whom they want to take from other teams.
Teams will be more careful after the debacle of HP and MI.
Cheers..
Rumours are high that MI players might leave rohit sharma, bumrah, sky?
