*CHAPTER 4-SNEAK A PEEK INTO HIS DIARY*
Khushi was scared of heights, but not of climbing walls. She climbed the wall, not looking down and squeezing her eyes tightly shut. Slowly, and carefully, she kept her foot down slowly. Khushi felt her feet hit the ground, and she thanked Devi Maiyya for her safe landing...
Arnav settled down against the wall to read his book, but kept thinking of Khushi in between...their hug, her blush, her eyes...her HAIR... Just then, he felt something drop next to him. "What the-" he exclaimed.
"What the-!" she heard. No, it couldn't be him... "Khushi Naina Gupta, you are hallucinating too much" she told herself.
He heard "Khushi Naina Gupta, you are hallucinating too much" The shock of hearing her voice, made Arnav get up so suddenly that he almost ran into her, making her unsteady. He caught her by the arm to stop her from falling.
"Khushi?!" he said, shocked. Was he hallucinating?!
Khushi steadied herself, and dusted her jeans. "Oh, hi Arnav. Whatsup?!" she said non-chalantly.
Arnav's eyebrow shot up. "Well, apparently nothing was supposed to be up except the sky until YOU seemed to drop out of it?"
"Oh, I was just, uh, using the short cut," she replied sheepishly.
Arnav smirked. "Well, I should get going," Khushi said.
Arnav's face was wiped off the smirk immediately. As she turned to leave, he caught her hand. "Wait!"
Khushi froze; she was hyper aware of his hand. She looked at him questioningly. "Are you ignoring me Khushi?" Arnav asked warily.
Her eyes widened. "Why would I do that?" she asked puzzled.
"You know, after yesterday, I-"
"Offo! Arnav, it was just a hug okay? Can't friends hug?" she asked, smiling.
JUST a hug...? FRIENDS?! IS that what she thought...? Hadn't she felt what he had? He looked at her, analyzing her face. The smile, was wavering...The corner of her lips were twitching and her eyes were not looking at him...Well, she was lying...Arnav thought satisfied.
"Well, okay. See you around." He said.
Khushi did not move from there, looking around flustered. "Hullo? You can go now?" Arnav said.
"Um, Arnav...my-uh- Hand..." she stuttered.
Arnav saw that he was still holding her hand. Reluctantly, he let go. "Sorry."
Khushi turned around and fled, faster than her heart was racing...

Khushi entered the house, and was amazed. It looked so beautiful... Well, bhaiyya ki shaadi jo hai... pink and green gossamer streamed along the walls, held up by dark blue satin ribbons. Red roses and lavenders were decked here and there...So princess-like she thought...
"Oh Khushi, you're here!" she heard Anjali's voice. Khushi turned to see Anjali walking towards her.
"Hey Di! G'Morning!" Khushi greeted.
"Hello Khushi! Where is Mummyji, Daddyji and Shyam?" Anjali asked, looking behind Khushi.
"They are coming Di...So need help?" she asked.
"Oh yes..." And thus began a hectic routine for Khushi Naina Gupta. She ran about the house, up and down... "Lord Hastings cannot help on his sister's wedding...Must be reading a silly book..." Khushi muttered, as she entered his room to lay out the sherwani Di had got for Arnav. God! His room was messier than she had seen it last time! She sighed, and decided to clean at least a little bit of the room.
She bent to pick up rubbish from the floor. Ugh! Chocolate wrappers were under his bed, and empty tins of coke on his bedstand... On his recliner was an emty packet of chips... She picked up his white school shirt with her finger tips, and threw it in the laundry bin of his bathroom. Just as she was about to pick up the comforter from the floor, her eye fell on an open book beneath it. She could clearly make out his writing. She bent to pick it up, and in a glance or two she caught a few words here and there and realized it was his personal diary. She was curious, but was determined not to disturb his privacy. So she put it infront of the dresser. But the diary seemed hell bent on not staying there, and as she turned around, her hand brushed the diary, and it fell to the ground, opening again.
Khushi groaned and bent to pick it up, and quite quite unintentionally, captured a paragraph...
'She is the prettiest girl I have ever seen...The way she talks, her cute and childish antics... The depth of her beautiful hazel eyes, and the grey in them that brings out their beauty. Her innocence is so adorable... And her hair is like nightfall cascading to her waist... Her childishness is what I love! LOVE? Did I just say 'love'? Wow! I guess I did...I guess I am one of those in it... But, looking at how things are going so far, looks like I am nothing but a friend to her..."
Khushi snapped the book shut and placed it onto the dresser. She looked at herself in the mirror.
She grimaced. Well, if that 'other girl' was as Arnav said she was, even Khushi was just like that wasn't she? Well, I myself am childish, and have hazel eyes which have grey in them...Black hair till waist...Then WHY, oh WHY couldn't he love her? And that 'other girl' is an absolute idiot to consider him nothing more than a friend... She stormed out of the room, still wondering what was so different about that other girl... And to top it off, she had that ridiculous challenge which seemed impossible to her... Why was it always HER?! Aargh!
