2:30pm There is a puddle on the cover, rest of it's wet too. So, not great signs. The skies have gotten darker and there's no one on the ground half an hour ahead of the next update.

2:45pm: The umpires and reserve umpire are having a word with a couple of groundstaff members. No umbrellas above. Of course, they go up right after I type. There is a slight drizzle but Bairstow and Jordan are out. Topley too. Well, that's changing, rain's getting heavier.

3pm: Update is in, and it's predictably grim. Ian Ward says we are losing overs already. 4:46pm local is the latest point at which a five-over game can begin. But it's still raining, and every time it has stopped and the staff come on to clear things up, it restarts. At least it's not stopping the cricket fans are playing in the concourse.
