Not so much that anymore---It was that way in the 1930s Hollywood though---as that we, in America at least have millions of girls who look just like Freida to some extent and so she can sell to us. Money talks and Freida's type has been underrepresented until now. We LIKE to see a girl who looks like ourselves being held up and glamourized. It gives us hope that if we buy xyz product we can get similar results. It's about money and where we spend our dollars. Do I really want to spend my money trying to look like the child of some other parents or will I be more likely to spend it buying makeup displayed with someone like me in mind?
Americans also balk at being marginalized and ignored and treated as if they aren't worth seeing simply because they aren't born of Swedish or Danish ancestry. We put up with that for a long time (I grew up with it since I'm older and let me tell you it's DAMAGING and vicious) so Freida is the hope that some little girl with black hair and brown eyes and a nose that isn't pert and upturned as is the norm in only one or two other races can become a beauty in her own right. It's not because she's "exotic" it's because we are finally admitting that she and those like her are part of us and shouldn't be ignored or left out.As for Gulshan he's entitled to his view. To each his own. I've seen him in person and he looks like a rather oily restauranteur to me, but hey...he's a BAD MAN.
Then why indians hate her?? do u admit that indians are racist and white wannabes?? And also I disagree with your comment about freida looking like millions of american girl.If she is average why is feted as a great beauty in the west but not in india?? Do u think people would vote for an avg girl as 6th most beautiful women in world(people Magazine) and compare her with Helen of troy(Vanity fair)??
