Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan Film Starts Strong with Rs 30 Crore

TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, opened to an impressive Rs 30 crore at the box office on its first day. Released on October 10, the film has attracted significant attention, especially in Tamil-speaking regions where it saw 53.96% occupancy. In Telugu-speaking areas, the film registered 34.15%. However, the response was weaker in the Hindi and Kannada markets, with 8.11% and 10.79% occupancy, respectively.

Fans flocked to theaters to see Rajinikanth and Amitabh reuniting on-screen after 33 years since Hum (1991). The early box office predictions seem to be holding up well. While the film has been widely praised for its strong performances, particularly Rajinikanth's, the storyline has left some viewers unsatisfied. Reactions on social media have been mixed. One fan on X wrote, "Thalaivar carries the film effortlessly, but he's not alone. The screenplay is gripping and tackles important social issues."

Vettaiyan tells the story of Sharanya, played by Dushara Vijayan, a government school teacher who exposes a drug racket near her school. Rajinikanth portrays SP Athiyan, who takes on the case and brings justice through his signature encounter style.

The film also features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati. While Amitabh’s role was praised, some critics felt it was underutilised. Despite mixed reviews, Vettaiyan continues to perform well at the box office, and it will be interesting to see how it fares in the days ahead.
