Ajay Devgn is all set to captivate audiences once again with the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit movie "Raid." The sequel, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, also stars Vaani Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in prominent roles. According to recent reports, the star-studded cast has wrapped up filming, and the movie is now in the post-production stage.
The shooting for "Raid 2" concluded on May 10 after an extensive schedule that took the team across various locations, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the capital city. The initial filming phase took place in Mumbai, involving a week-long shoot with Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh. This was followed by a month-long stint in Lucknow, where key scenes were shot at Isabella Thoburn College and La Martiniere College. Most of the film was shot on real locations to maintain authenticity.
"Raid 2" sees Ajay Devgn reprising his role as senior income tax officer Amay Patnaik. The storyline is inspired by a real-life raid case in Uttar Pradesh, involving a politician-businessman accused of evading taxes worth over Rs 100 crore. The first-look poster, previously unveiled by the makers on social media, features the tagline, "Amay Patnaik is back," promising the return of Devgn’s character as an honest government official who stands up against corrupt politicians.
The original "Raid," released in 2018, was a gripping crime thriller that revolved around an incorruptible income tax officer who conducts a high-stakes raid on a powerful politician's mansion. The film was lauded for its intense narrative and Devgn’s powerful performance, making the announcement of its sequel highly anticipated.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar under the banners of T-Series and Panorama Studios, "Raid 2" is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 15, 2024. With the post-production phase underway, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of IRS Amay Patnaik and another thrilling tale of justice and integrity.
