The Paris Olympics 2024 has seen intense competition, with athletes giving their all for their countries. India celebrated a historic moment as shooter Manu Bhaker secured the country's first medal in these Games with a bronze in the women's 10m Air Pistol event. Adding to her triumph, Manu, along with Sarabjot Singh, clinched another bronze in the mixed team event, making her the first Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals in a single edition post-independence. The achievement garnered widespread applause, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bollywood celebrities.

Today, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh brought immense pride to India by winning a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the duo on X (formerly Twitter), saying, 

"Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted. For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication. #Cheer4Bharat."

Bollywood star Anil Kapoor also joined in the celebrations, posting on his Instagram Stories, 

"@bhakermanu @sarabjotsingh30 Another win for India!! Congratulations!!"

The Indian team's journey to the bronze medal was marked by a spirited comeback. Despite a shaky start where Korea led the first round with a score of 20.5 to 18.8, Manu and Sarabjot quickly found their rhythm. In the second round, they outscored Korea, with Manu achieving a score of 10.7 and Sarabjot 10.5, while Korea managed 19.9. The momentum continued into the third round, with both Indian shooters scoring 10.4 each, surpassing Korea's 19.8. They extended their lead to 6-2, bolstered by Manu's consistent high scores and Sarabjot's steady shots, despite a minor setback.

Manu Bhaker's exceptional performance, including a critical 10.5 shot, ensured the team clinched another round, solidifying their win as Korea scored 19.5. This victory not only marked a significant achievement for the duo but also highlighted India's growing prowess in the sport of shooting on the international stage.
